🌴🕸 Amazons Round 5 & Lustrian Waagh Round 5 (End of the battle) ✍🏻 At this point I knew I couldn't hope to win and only tried to desperately gain some last point to snatch at least a draw - Queen #Thalestris and her #totemguard reached perfection by successfully charging the enemy general (he couldn't flee, because was still under the effect of stupidity), killing the #Arachnarok, pursuing the fleeing Shaman (I love 6ed rules with different profiles for mount and character and the chance to use him on foot if the monster is killed) and finishing him Wow! General and a Monster killed! Precious points and maybe I could still hope... - ...nope, because my luck ended there. My #Gorols charged the yellow Arachnarok. They had initiative, strenght and only two last wounds to inflict. But dice didn't favour them: they only inflicted a wound and the Monster Spider's retribution was reckless, massacring and successfully pursuing the noble monkeys - On the same flank, the combined force of my #PiranhaWarriors and #EagleWarriors wasn't enough to suppres the last two #Trolls, who devastated the totemic fish's warriors If I had won this two melees, I would have also conquered two quarters of table... - Finally, and this was indeed one of my many mistakes, I launched my Avatar of #Rigg in a useless and suicidal charge against the #Squiggoth, that easilly destroyed her - Last round of battle showed Trolls and Arachnarok annihilating remaining Piranha and Eagle Warriors - Special mention for the two #SpiderRiders who had showed unexpected Goblin couragrle for all the battle, fleing the field only in the very last round 🕸🕷🕸 Final Result: Minor Victory for the Lustrian Waagh! ___________________________ #warhammer #fantasy #oldworld #battle #wfrp #hobby #paint #wargames #scenery #miniatures #lustria #jungle #waagh #forest #goblin #greenskins #orcs #savageorcs #amazons

#workbenchwednesday This week I was able to lay a bit more color onto the body of #gaulrach (this would be so much easier with a paint gun 😂), we did two Ogre videos and got some work done on all 3 of the #ogrebrutes as well as finishing a #ogre boss, the third and final #dragonogre of #tzeentch saw a lot of work from priming to where it is now, added some color to the #goblinfanatic and the #nightgoblinboss and am just about done with the test model for the #spiderriders This week I plan to get more work done on Gaulrach, finish at LEAST one of the Ogres if not two, complete the Dragon Ogre AND get them in the mail, and finish both night goblins and the spider rider. I should be able to start the next bunch of spider riders and I will possibly pull the Dwarven Miners back down from the shelf. So the old world hype got me I picked up my old skull pass minis and have started giving them a slap of paint The spiders I've long had painted up for d&d and frostgrave. With this grot I finally complete the unit. It's been a time consuming one, where the spiders were especially difficult to tackle. I have learnt that wide flat surfaces are harder to glaze gradients over and that, in this sense, I very much prefer smaller details. I was surprised by the amount of details that even old models like these still pull out and I think this unit proudly stands next to the rest of the army. Even though these models are older, the variety in relief on the shields is really inspiring to pushing on the hues diversity. I'm further exploring layering a colour gradient underneath the one of the moonlight. In this case, green for the darks and magenta for the lights, with the OSL on top. I'm particularly pleased with how this model turned out. The colours are vibrant, but harmonic with one another. The glaze resulted softer than usual. I chose colours that really helped with the OSL gradient and I will keep them in mind for the future. Placing these models with a solid grip on the ground has been quite challenging. They are definitely designed to be used with the original rectangular bases. This gave me the chance to try and articulate the unevenness of the ground in a way that could support the "belly" of the spider. I can see how challenging this is making to paint some areas and I wish I could have a clearer access to the model to plus the spiders up more. This is the first guy I paint for this unit who has a quiver. I am certainly reconsidering my choice not to sub-assembly paint these folks, but it's not the end of the world. This first warrior grot in the unit was much easier to paint than the previous three, just because of the accessibility of his body parts. I'm not sure the overall colour mix was successful, but I really enjoyed layering a two hues gradient in the shield below the standard moonlight OSL, as I believe these kinds of colour stratification really adds on visual depth. I usually am not very interested in pursuing a sub-assembly workflow, but this time I had no choice: I had to detach the bones drum after gluing it, in order to paint the grot's body. I learnt my lesson to pay attention to these kinds of details before hand, but I was lucky it wasn't too hard to cut the piece off with an exact knife. I love how te colours turned out on this guy and his eyes with huge eye bags are simply hilarious. Well, what a day! 4th edition Warhammer Fantasy with my oldest friend who got me into miniatures in the first place way back in 1994! The game was wonderful, weird, random and had some incredible heroic moments and I could not have asked for a nicer afternoon! We called it a draw in the end and much blood and bone dust was spilt on the battlefield. I had a blast painting all of the details on this model. I intentionally inclined it forward just enough not to have the moonlight OSL hit them all, so that i could play more with the variety of colours. I have explored a layering of multiple hues in the shield, where the object itself turned from blue to yellow towards the light, but then the moonlight OSL re-added some turquoise on top. I'm trying to see how much I can push the hues mesh-up. I start posting for a new unit today: the boss leading the Spider Riders. I have seen online how this unit can be unpopular, especially for some rightful criticism regarding the outdated look. Despite I can see the point, I still find them appealing and I believe they can still blend in my army quite nicely. I love all the tribal details and I can't wait to tackle every single one. I decided not to proceed with a sub-assembly approach for paining and I hope I will not regret my choice. I found out right away how the wide horizontal surfaces of the spiders are not ideal for the moonlight OSL, but I'm sure it can be a great glazing exercise for me. To characterize the models even further, I decided to purchase some resin printed small spiders to glue beside the bigger ones. Based and ready to go back to living on the dragon shelf. I already posted pics of this bad boy, but I just finished the base for him, so a much needed appreciation post. I am a junk girl. Like to repurpose where I can, if I can. So the glass on the bottom of this model is actually the window glass from when my car was stolen. When I saw the car at the impound lot, it was thrashed, trashed, and disgusting. But I saw the glass and instantly thought it would be perfect for an ice atmosphere. I ended up using some contrast and water effects to match the color and make the glass not so dangerous lol. Just a further f... you to the people who took it.
