📍Giuseppe & Son’s Starting with the house made ricotta, with mint, honey, and sea salt. The mint on top was a refreshing touch, but we didn’t love the bread that was paired with it. The sourdough had a burnt flavor that slightly overwhelmed the light ricotta. The highlight of the meal for me was this caesar salad. The dressing was more lemony than the average caesar dressing, which I really liked. It was crisp and citrusy. The chicken milanese, with tomato, basil, and parm, was served with a garnish of arugula. It definitely needed a sauce as it was a little on the drier side, so we paired it with the ricotta. The bread crumbs were a bit heavy, so I’d say this was my least favorite part of the meal. We ordered a classic: rigatoni alla vodka (which, in my opinion, you can’t really go wrong with). It was good, but we could tell it had sat for a bit under the heat lamp as the cheese on top had congealed. No worries! The restaurant was super busy. The broccoli rabe, complete with garlic, chili, and bread crumbs, was the star of the show. I loved this side. The garlic complemented the bitterness of the brocoli rabe, while the breadcrumbs offered a satisfying crunch. 📍Laser Wolf I had heard rave reviews about Laser Wolf, so I knew I had to try it. For the price of an entree, you get a ten dish salatim (Israeli mezze plate) and dessert included! The vibes were right and it was packed. Starting off with the unlimited salatim, which had: -Hummus w/Fresh Pita -Ajvar -Spicy Cucumbers -Kale Babaganoush -Braised Fennel w/Orange -Cabbage w/Tomato & Amba -Yemenite Pickles w/Shipka Peppers -Mushrooms w/Swiss Chard & Sour Cherry -Gigante Beans w/Castelvetrano Olives -Broccoli w/Chickpeas & Harissa -Smoked Beets My favorites were the hummus, the braised fennel, and the ajvar. The hummus speaks for itself, 10/10. The fresh pita was amazing as well. The braised fennel was sweet, refreshing, and tender. The usual licorice taste was mellowed during the braising process, allowing for a more mild anise flavor. The ajvar, made from roasted red peppers, was smoky, sweet, and had a balanced heat - an unexpected flavor combo. The vinegar added a welcome tangy kick that helped to balance the peppers. Also at the table we had the spicy lamb kofte (pictured), dorade, eggplant (pictured), and sirloin. 📍Buddakan Started off with the chicken & ginger dumplings and the spicy shrimp bao buns. We loved how the bao buns were moist and fluffy. For my main I got the Chilean sea bass which had haricot verts, butternut squash, maitake mushrooms, truffle jus. It was really good, cooked perfectly and I loved the mushrooms. The sea bass’ buttery texture paired perfectly with the earthy sweetness of the butternut squash and subtle crunch of the haricot verts. The maitake mushrooms and truffle just elevated the dish with a bit of depth, and definite decadence. I caught myself scraping the plate to get all the jus. Also pictured is the Char Grilled Beef with szechuan fries, watercress salad. The beef was cooked perfectly and was tender and flavorful. In the desert lineup we have the doughnuts and the passion fruit cheesecake. I could’ve gone without the doughnuts but really ejnjoyed the cheesecake!
