Peter Windeler House, 573 South Van Ness Av., San Francisco Once part of a neighborhood with residences of wealthy industrialists, many of them German-American, this is the last remaining Victorian house on this block front, now lying incongruously between a paint store and a gas station/convenience store Built in the 1890s, the architect of this Queen Anne style stunner is unknown It was the home of Peter Windeler, a German-born brewer who co-owned Enterprise Brewing Co.
