Пока православный мир отмечает Пасху В Испании отмечают День Матери, но в этом году этот день пришелся на воскресенье. Мы начали отмечать ещё вчера. С утра я получила подарочки, на которые честно говоря не рассчитывала. Было очень приятно! Настя очень хотела съездить в парк на побережье. Погода отличная, решили поехать. После парка мне захотелось фисташкового мороженого, поэтому поехали в порт. Именно в порту оно безумно вкусное. Дети решили сделать мне ещё один подарок и поэтому вели себя идеально. Конечно, Дженнифер залезая на столбики детской площадки упала на камни рядом и не переставала просить всё подряд, но это у нас дело привычное! Решили зайти на пляж. Мне было интересно, зайдёт ли Дженнифер в воду хотя бы чуть - чуть. Моё удивление длится по сей день - Дженнифер первая побежала в воду. Вода ещё холодная. Теперь я задаюсь вопросом: почему в море дети бегут с радостью и фиг их вытащишь оттуда, а чтобы мне вымыть Дженнифер в душевой кабинке, мне надо пару бокальчиков красного выпить? Ну, а сегодня в моих планах уйти гулять вечером! Go to the Parque de las Palomas they said . . . I told you I had funny stories to tell. Here is one for you. Whatever you do, don’t miss the last pic. I’m mean the pictures kind of tell the story on their own but allow me to commentate for you. @yari_1526 and I jumped out of the vehicle and walked up the street to go to the Pigeon Park. Apparently it is a “must do” and if you google it, you will find Parque de las Palomas, Puerto Rico at the top of your search. After hiking up the street, we enter a courtyard where yep, just as you would guess, pigeons. There is a vendor where you can buy food but since we jumped out of the car, we didn’t have our purses so, no money. Oh darn 🤦♀️🤣 But a kind gentleman 🙄 hands me a piece of a bag, “here, they know what this bag means.” I thank him and hold the bag. One pigeon lands on one arm then one on the other. Soon there were pigeons all over. All I could think was (please don’t poop on me) then one lands on my head (oh please don’t poop in my hair) “Okay, now how do I get them off?” I’m pretty much done at this point and after looking down to see I am surrounded by pigeons, I feel a little bit like one of the bad guys in Home Alone 2 or worse yet, in an Alfred Hitchcock movie. 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅 😬😬😬 🦅🦅 🦅 🦅 🦅 Flapping my arms upward. Some fly off. Some cling to their roost (ME) and some fly up from the ground towards me. I shake my head trying to shoo them away and while my head is ducked (I’m about to run for my life at this point) I turn to to get away, BAM! Knocked my head right into the big sturdy limb that was there the whole time. 🙄🤕😂🤣 Finally, I was free of pigeons and having a good laugh at the spectacle I must have made for everyone looking on. Anyway, I can cross the Pigeon Park in San Juan off of my list of places to visit. Visited San Juan today and stumbled across this amazing place. Parque De Las Palomas (Pigeon Park) In the 18th century San Juan erected a wall for cannon placement overlooking the southeastern coast of Puerto Rico. After the cannons were removed or ceased to be used, pigeons began to settle in the sockets left behind. After a long hiatus, my travel diary entries from Morocco are BACK My family and I have a long-running tradition of finding things wherever we go that make us say, "They have this in Puerto Rico!" I can't claim it's uniquely Puerto Rican to find ourselves in new places because everyone compares their home to the places they visit to some extent. However, I can definitely blame my parents for always planting this thought in my mind. In the Square of Mohammad the V in Casablanca, you will find a foundation surrounded by pigeons surrounded by people feeding the pigeons surrounded by municipal buildings. At the center of it all is a man selling bird seed out of rolling basket for a small price. Locals know the square as place aux pigeons, ساحة الحمام, or pigeon square. The chaos of people old and young scattering seeds across the is not unlike the scene at the Parque de las Palomas in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I do wonder where the pigeons in Casablanca sleep at night? In San Juan, the holes in the wall where cannons fired are the modern resting place of plump pigeons and their squabs. It is a right of passage for Puerto Rican children to spill an entire bag of seeds on the ground of the park to the excitement of 100 or more adoring pigeon fans. The pigeons of Casablanca are so numerous that they are often blamed for the unhygienic state of the city's parks and walkways. Pigeons (of the genus columba) actually first evolved on the rocky shoes of North Africa and the Mediterranean Sea. Their ancestors home isn't too different from the hard nesting sites of marble, concrete, and stones in the urban environments they call home today. The birds were first domesticated by Mesopotamians and spread widely by the humans who adored them. It's no wonder we enjoy feeding them in cities across the world. Good morning friends! 🕊️ Here some pictures of me in one of my happy places in Puerto Rico.. el Parque de las Palomas 🕊️. A park where people have been going to feed friendly pigeons since the 18th century located it in San Juan next to Capilla del Cristo at the end of Cristo Street with views of Bahía de San Juan and the crisscrossing water traffic that often includes city-sized cruise ships. It’s always a place that brings great childhood memories about school trips to this place and fun times with friends. If you ever visit Old San Juan, this is a great place to stop by to enjoy hundreds of pigeons, the nice breeze from the sea 🌊 or get pooped 🙈😁😂😅 from pigeons on the trees.
