Today Dedicants to our Coven celebrate serving their One Year and A day. A Dedicant is a Witch who commits themselves to the study and learning of the practices of Witchcraft. Its purpose also allows the individual to form an understanding of the Coven’s principles, traditions and rituals, and helps form a connection with its current members. Once the time period is over the individual must decide if this is their path or if they must leave to find their true path. Whichever the decision, it is respected. Serving One Year and A Day with any Coven is a special milestone in your magickal and spiritual journey. We’d like to thank the 7 Dedicants who have served their One Year and A Day with us, it’s been magickal and we’ve enjoyed being in circle with you. A lot of great memories to look back on. No matter what’s to come next, we trust that Hekate will keep her tourches lit and illuminate the path you are meant to walk. This photo was taken on April 10th, 2022 when Dedicants signed their bylaws with the Coven. Happy One Year and A day! ~O.D.M #OrderOfTheDarkMoonCoven #Coven #WitchcraftCoven #Witchcraft #HailHekate #CovenOfHekate #Magick #Witches #Dedicant

“Hekate might be the most popular goddess in Modern Witchcraft. Over the last 15 years, there have been numerous books written by Witches (for Witches) that focus exclusively on her. Hekate is so popular that there are many Witches who refer to themselves as Hekatean Witches, making her the only deity I am aware of that Modern Witches gravitate toward in such a way. Many Witches are devoted to certain deities, but you don’t see terms like Dionysian Witches, or Athenian Witches being used with frequency as identifiers.” “When discussing the Greek gods in modern era, it’s hard to escape the idea of agency. When a goddess makes herself known, and so loudly, there must be a reason. Hekate, as a goddess of Witchcraft and magick speaks to Modern Witches like few other deities. With her ability to traverse the realms of both the living and the dead, she’s one of the few deities able to facilitate reunions with those we’ve lost. She’s also empowering, living and doing everything on her own terms. So, although the Greek world was highly patriarchal and Zeus held sway over nearly all the gods, even he honored Hekate, above all others.” ~Jason Mankey #CovenOfHekate #HekateanWitches #ModernWitchcraft #Zeus #Hekate #GreekGods #Hellenistic #ModernWitchcraftWithTheGreekGods #OrderOfTheDarkMoonCoven #Witch #Witchcraft #Occult #Coven #CovenOfWitches #Magick #Mysticism #EsotericKnowledge

The chalice is among the richest of symbolic tools in witchcraft. Used as a receptacle in ceremony, a silver chalice holds ritual contents to be shared for the communing of Coven members, or from which to offer a potion. Sometimes set up on altars as an offering cup or to request fulfillment, the chalice serves to hold elements for gestation, and to then bestow the alchemical result. The circular base symbolizes the mundane world; the stem is a symbol of connection between humanity and spirit; and the open rim is a vessel for receiving divine attainment as depicted in religious, alchemical, and occult art. The holy grail is the chalice used by Christ in the Last Supper, the supposed hidden relic of great speculation. Esoterically, the holy chalice symbolized the womb of Mary Magdalene, who carried the seed of Christ. The chalice is a key magical tool used by many Wiccans in the Great Rite, a ceremony in which the phallic athame, or ritual knife, is plunged into the symbolically feminine cup. The proto-sorceress Circe of the Greek epic poem The Odyssey is an early example of a witch who relied heavily on the chalice as a delivery device for poison. Her exquisite beauty and seductive charm could compel any man to partake of the offering that would cause his ultimate demise. A “poisoned chalice” became a common term for something that appears alluring at first, but signals eventual ruin. The chalice remains a sacred container from which all creations are born. It represents a holy container, the fertile, creative womb of the goddess, or the feminine principle. Chalices also symbolize the element of water, one of the four elements used in witchcraft, Tarot, and other spiritual practices. Water is associated with emotions, creativity, joy, and receptivity. Chalice imagery as a life-giving source, permeates art and literature from time immemorial. ~Michelle Mae #Witchcraft #Chalice #Ritual #RitualTools #Circe #DaughterOfHekate #ChildOfHekate #Magick #Water #SaredWater #SacredVessels #GreekPantheon #AncientGreece #OldWorldWitchcraft #DarkMoon #DarkMoonSecrets #orderofthedarkmooncoven
