Earlier this week London artist Konola (@konolamusic) dropped his album titled 'Purple Purpose' The album is split in three different sections and I can say Colour Blue was the one that stood out to me as you got to hear a different Konola and context on his background and upbringing. 'Understand Me' is my favourite track off the album and the other tracks on the carousel stood out to me for good but different. I'd love to acknowledge Ella Alumina she gave me a great first impression. He says that "The aim of this body of work, is to show you that just as Christ is the Lion and Lamb at the same time, we too can be red and blue. Last Friday, Rising French rapper M-Kay (@mkay_db) released his debut E.P "Entre Dieu et moi" (translates to, "Between me and God") It's a solid body of music. My favourite song of the project has to be "C'est plus Pareil" simply because of the flow at the beginning and the spamming of the term 'Wesh' The music video for "Avant que je naisse" was a movie. THe storytelling song "M et N" was also something new. Would be interesting to see more of these type of songs by M-Kay in the future. The album ‘Everything Left Unsaid’ is Triple O’s (@tripleomusic) 3rd studio album and acts as a direct follow up to the EP ‘Cry Like a Man’ which was released back in the 1st quarter of 2020 prior to the pandemic. The album serves as a love letter to his daughter and thematically aims to reflect themes centred around faith, love, fatherhood and social injustice. Conceptually, the album looks at life teachings any father would want their child to know - things we have learnt, the things life has shown us - the joys and the pain we grow from; all culminating into the lessons we look to pass on to our legacy – everything we have shared, and ‘everything left unsaid’. Sonically the album sounds boast of musical journey borrowing from traditional gospel sounds and infusing contemporary Christian music with current sounding drill, afrobeat and lo-fi rap. An exciting soundscape across the various subgenres which sit underneath Hip-Hop music as a whole. With features ranging from Grammy nominated artist DA’ T.R.U.T.H and UK music legend Gracious K – the album truly is an amalgamation of great music with real heart, a project so many are already referring to as a modern classic. My favourite song is 'Glory' due to the blend of the church choir and Drill, and if anyone knows about me I love when artists incorporate the choir in a creative way in music. Becca Folkes and Gracious K really did their thing on that track. Marko also complimented Triple O well as they both have similar rapping styles which was a good move. Overall for me the album sounds quality, shows that Triple O is truly dedicated about his craft. There's something for everyone on this album as the project truly shows Scar's versatility when it comes to music as highlighted on the carousel. Bringing in Qyubi & Rehmahz for an Afrobeats track on 'Contagious' which is my favourite track on the project. Royalty has a sound reminisce of don Toliver which added a nice touch as I didn't except that of this album. I must say BRLY (@officialbrly) snapped differently on Horizon his verse sent me to another dimension. There's even a bit of Drill. Overall it's a good debut album making his return worthwhile. On Friday Fast Food Music Christ (@fastfoodmusicchrist) released their project 'Tout le monde reste fort' featuring David Okit (@david_okit) The project has seven tracks and hopefully this is the last feeder tape before the album. My favourite song of the project is 'Pleure un peu' and the rest of the public seems to think the same as it's the most streamed one so far. One thing that stands out about it, is how raw some of the tracks are as David is not afraid to talk about taboo topics on songs. Makes it cut through the listener. I also really enjoyed 'Big Man' and how David lays his vocals and rhythmically shouts on the track, it reminisces me of a war chant. He has done it before on countless of songs, but it still hits. The title track 'Tout le monde reste fort' is good to me as it's like he has a conversation with the listener as if he was a friend or accountability partners which in turn would deepen the personal connection the listener has to him. My favourite song off the project was 'Wifey' due to the melodies just flowing and the relatability for me at least at this point of my life. One thing that stood out me while listening the project it was as if I was listening to a modern day Solomon poem. He really embodies the emotion and journey of being in love. My favourite song of the album was track 8'need you here' all the artists complimented each other very well, with Beloved having a strong showing on the track. The slowed and reverb at the end gave it a nice touch. I also enjoyed the track 'be there' which was released a year prior but glad that it made the album.
