🗒️ SUP’STUDY [DAILY DEVOTIONAL] 📝 _“…Commanding your day…”_ [Thursday, 23/05/2024] ✏️FOLLOW THE RIGHT LEADERS _“Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”_ Matthew 15:14 REMEMBER: We are admonished throughout Scripture to honor our Leaders. One such verse tells us: “Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.” Hebrews 13:17 (NIV). This is something every Child of God must learn to do - submit to authority. But then, how do you know which is the right one? Just a few verses before that He tells us: “Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith.” Hebrews 13:7 (NLT). The Leaders whose authority you should submit to are those with exemplary lives of faith in God - lives in which the Goodness of God through His Word can be seen to flow freely. These are those you should follow. The Church you attend, let this be the hallmark: true Faith in God and an uncompromising walk in His Word [read Philippians 4:8-9, Psalm 119:105] This is because the Word of God is the light of God - without it, there’s only darkness and hence blindness [read Psalm 119:129-130]. Don’t follow blind Leaders. Even in the Church, God said: “Be very careful! Some people are teaching bad things…They are like dangerous dogs. Do not believe them!” Philippians 3:2 (EASY). Our Lord Jesus while He was on earth said to His disciples: “…Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees…Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” Matthew 16:6, 12. 🗒️ SUP’STUDY [DAILY DEVOTIONAL] 📝 _“…Commanding your day…”_ [Wednesday, 22/05/2024] ✏️SAY NO TO CANCER _“He also taught me, and said to me: “Let your heart retain my words; Keep my commands, and live.”_ Proverbs 4:4 REMEMBER: God expressly lets us know that “Out of the heart comes the essence of life” meaning everything that ever becomes of a person or happens in their life whether good or bad hails from the heart. This is why we are admonished to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind” (Luke 10:27). The Bible tells us, “Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.” Ephesians 4:31. This is because these things bring about sicknesses, form diseases within and result in all kinds of medical conditions. If you have ever been deeply bitter, angered, or heartbroken in any way, then you might have a clearer understanding of this - the state of your heart greatly affects your physical disposition. These things if not discontinued would go on to progressively inflict pain, and hurt; even deteriorating your health as a whole. Yes, it has been medically proven that these negative emotions significantly impact one’s physical well-being (in the long run and sometimes even instantly). So, SAY NO TO CANCER; stop letting the wrong things get to you; Guard your heart - constantly feed on God’s word and let it influence your views, perspectives, actions, and reactions. Practice God’s Word by letting it fully control your emotions. This is so important that our Lord Jesus enumerated it as one of the main purposes of His manifestation, He said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because…He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted” (Luke 4:18). Amen.”_ 1 Timothy 1:17 REMEMBER: There are several reasons why as Christians our focus must be Jesus. Amongst these reasons lies the fact that He is our King - the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Now, let’s look at some definitions. According to The Britannica Dictionary, King means: a male ruler of a country who usually inherits his position and rules for life: something that is very powerful or that is considered better than all others: the most important piece in the game of chess. Then, according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, Lord means: one having power and authority over others: a ruler by hereditary right or preeminence to whom service and obedience are due. Notice closely the definition of ‘King’ that says, ‘the most important piece in the game of chess’. In this race of life, Jesus Christ is the most important piece [read Hebrews 12:1-3]. When you have Jesus as your centerpiece you have it made. But if you lose focus from Jesus then you lose it all. He said, “Without me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5) This great King eternal, immortal, invisible, God who alone is wise - Jesus Christ - said: “…Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 🗒️ SUP’STUDY [DAILY DEVOTIONAL] 📝 _“…Commanding your day…”_ [Monday, 20/05/2024] ✏️IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH _“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”_ John 4:24 REMEMBER: Worship here is beyond slow songs, it has to do with everything we think, say, or do in recognition or awareness of God. So, worshipping [and/or serving] God in Spirit and in Truth has to do with Walking in the Spirit and Walking in Truth. Let’s break those two down. The Bible says, “…Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16. This has to do with being led by the Holy Spirit in your daily living - the state of your heart, mind, words, and the character of your deeds [read Philippians 4:8-9]. That is, living your life in an exhibition of divine virtues/qualities, and in alignment with Spiritual principles. As it is written, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control…Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” Galatians 5:22-23, 25 (NIV). Therefore, live for God and serve God with increasing consciousness of divine realities. Now, talking about worshipping God ‘In Truth’ requires that we understand what ‘Truth’ is. Our Lord Jesus in His prayer to God said, “Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.” John 17:17 (NLT). The Word of God is Truth; it is Reality! So, walking in Truth has to do with living by the Word of God, that is, adhering to the principles of God’s Word, and applying the teachings thereof in your life as a whole. Another Bible version puts our opening verse thus: “God is spirit. People who worship him must worship from their spirits in a true way.’” John 4:24 (EASY). Yes, there is a true way to worship God. We live in a world where it’s harder and harder to tell which foods are truly nutritious and which are poisonous; which are truly organic and which are chaotic to health. There have just been so many toxic elements incorporated into the Agricultural and Food Processing Industries. God’s desire is for us to be in health as seen in 3 John 1:2 which says, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” Hence, He dearly teaches us - in His Word - how to live above all the deteriorating elements of this world. When God created Adam and Eve, He said everything was good for food (Genesis 1:29) but then man sinned and farther on creation became corrupted, and now waiting for you to manifest [read Romans 8:21]. The Bible warns us to “Be careful to curb your appetite and catch yourself before you fall into the trap of wanting all you see.” Proverbs 23:2 (TPT). One of the reasons is that we have diverse diseases surging amongst our populations and so many new ones being discovered by the day; with all these being linked to various inorganic methods and chemicals now used in food production processes (from farmlands to food factories, etc) around the World. But you see, God didn’t leave us, His Children, without help. The CEV puts our opening Scripture thus: “Everything God created is good. And if you give thanks, you may eat anything. What God has said _(God’s Word)_ and your prayer will make it fit to eat.” 1 Timothy 4:4-5 (CEV). It is as clear as day, our food is sanctified (made fit to eat) by the Word of God and Prayer. But there are still some of you who won’t believe.”_ John 6:63 (TPT) REMEMBER: It is all-important for one to know and understand the role of God’s Word in their life - especially as a Child of God. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” God doesn’t want any of us to perish, so He sent His Son. His Son - who was The Word of God become flesh (John 1:14, 6:68) - came and spoke words to us, teaching us how to know God and walk with God. This is why He said ‘everlasting life’ or eternal life is gotten by learning to know God: “Eternal life means to know and experience you as the only true God, and to know and experience Jesus Christ, as the Son whom you have sent.” John 17:3 (TPT). Nonetheless, our opening verse says “…But there are still some of you who won’t believe.” Say, ‘not me’! Yes, don’t fulfil the wrong parts of Scripture. What you get by the Word, you sustain by the Word - just as a fish is only sustained by water, so also is Eternal Life only sustained by God’s Word. Don’t lose it! Our Lord Jesus said the Words which He has spoken to us as documented in the Bible are Spirit and Life. This means that the only way one can receive and take advantage of the benefits of Eternal Life is by receiving and practising Jesus’ words - which is God’s Word. Just as it is written, “Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.” Proverbs 30:5-6. So, today we’ll see exactly why you must continue studying God’s Word or at least start consistently doing so. You see, it is one thing to do the right thing, but a whole other thing to CONTINUE practising the right thing and maintain your stand/discipline when push comes to shove. It takes more than external motivation - it takes sticking to God’s Word; it takes knowing God for yourself; it takes being motivated by purely unselfish reasons (such as Love for God and people), being rooted and grounded in God’s Love (which only happens as we give ourselves continually and consistently to Prayers and The Word of God as seen in Acts 6:4) Someone once said, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” So now, just how tough are you? This is far removed from mere physical stamina or mental strength; it has to do with not just surviving but facing Life’s storms and coming out victorious on every level. Yes, you can! Let’s read some of the amazing and unchangeable things that God has said in His Word concerning this, that is, concerning persistence, consistency, and firmness. First, the Bible says, “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.” 1 Peter 1:23 (NIV). 🗒️ SUP’STUDY [DAILY DEVOTIONAL] 📝 _“…Commanding your day…”_ [Thursday, 16/05/2024] ✏️USE YOUR AUTHORITY _“By the time Jesus finished speaking, the crowds were awestruck by his teaching, because his words carried such great authority, quite unlike the religious scholars.”_ Matthew 7:28-29 (TPT) REMEMBER: Our opening verse is one of those beautiful passages of the Bible where the difference between true Christianity and mere ‘Bible religion’ can be seen. Christianity is man alive in God and God alive in man - this implies [inherent] Power and [delegated] Authority. Christ in you is your guarantee of a life of Glory [read Colossians 1:26-27]. Now, Christianity starts and lasts with your confession/declaration. You must keep believing and talking Truth - the Truth of God’s Word. First, you know the Truth and that makes you free (John 8:32) and secondly, you speak in accordance with that Truth and that sets you free (Romans 10:10). Notice the difference! Don’t let your life dwindle, and the way you don’t is by ensuring that your Words are coherent with Truth; by meditating on the Word of God because God’s Word is Truth (John 17:17). Your Christianity ought not to be mere religion like the ‘religious scholars’ spoken of in our opening Scripture - it’s your responsibility to practice the Word, thereby exercising the authority of Christ! The Bible says, “We all fail in many areas, but especially with our words. Yet if we’re able to bridle the words we say we are powerful enough to control ourselves in every way, and that means our character is mature and fully developed. And so the tongue is a small part of the body yet it carries great power…Just think of how a small flame can set a huge forest ablaze. And the tongue is a fire…” James 3:2, 5-6 (TPT). Don’t speak incoherently. If you’re going to stick to the word, stick to the word of God and practice it. You know Jesus, it’s true. But the biggest question is does Jesus know you? And if He does, what does He know you for? He said Himself in Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’“ Does Jesus know you? What does He know you for - faithfulness or inconsistency? Sometimes people might think to themselves: God helped me in this or that (like a student thinking God helped them cheat in an exam); God blessed my business (like a fraudster thinking God is opening doors for them); God is forgiving me (like a person deliberately continuing to do what they know to be wrong). In reality, God is not involved! Our Lord Jesus died for everybody - pagans, sinners, idolaters, muslims, hindus, heathens, Christians, etc. So, the price He paid for your sins is what makes God not count them against you. [read 2 Corinthians 5:19]. But you see, that doesn’t necessarily mean you belong to Him or that He approves of your deeds. The Bible says, “Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent” Acts 17:30. To ‘Repent’ is to turn from sin and completely submit oneself to the amendment of one’s life. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth)”_ Ephesians 5:8-9 REMEMBER: Just like in our opening scripture, Our Lord Jesus, the one we live for and follow said, “Enter through the narrow gate because the wide gate and broad path is the way that leads to destruction—nearly everyone chooses that crowded road! The narrow gate and the difficult way leads to eternal life—so few even find it!” Matthew 7:13-14 (TPT). Distinguishing yourself with excellence must be your life’s pursuit - in all your projects, opportunities, talents, tasks, jobs, and most importantly your character. To be outstanding, you must standout! That’s the recipe. If you ever want to be outstanding in this life, then you must begin to see life as a Discipline (like a Marathon for example), and so fight the good fight to standout in your preparation, self-control, organization, attitude, mindset, character, and ultimately your motives - yes, that matters so much. The Bible says, “A true athlete will be disciplined in every respect, practicing constant self-control in order to win...” 1 Corinthians 9:25 (TPT) We read Our Lord Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:47-48 (TPT) that say: “How are you any different from others if you limit your kindness only to your friends? Don’t even the ungodly do that? Since you are children of a perfect Father in heaven, become perfect like him.” Notice He says to be perfect like your Father in heaven, and not ‘social media trends or quotes’. You must carefully select the things you feed your mind with because that’s what will flow out of you. And athletes cannot win the prize unless they follow the rules.”_ 2 Timothy 2:4-5 (NLT) REMEMBER: There’s someone you live to please, and that person is not you. You are not on your own and you are not your own. There’s an officer who has enlisted you. This is what we see in our opening verse and 1 Corinthians 6 which says, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have [received as a gift] from God, and that you are not your own [property]? You were bought with a price [you were actually purchased with the precious blood of Jesus and made His own]. So then, honor and glorify God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (AMP). There’s no true fulfilment or reward in living for your own pleasure; the end of it is actually only eternal loss (Matthew 6:24-25). The Bible says, “…You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” Matthew 22:37 God said: “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain…” Matthew 15:8-9 (NIV). Don’t let that describe you. Sometimes, God’s people go through certain challenges that ought not to be, such as in their finances and health. Meanwhile, God said, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” 3 John 1:2. Meaning it is all a function of your Spiritual Growth - which happens as you become more and more mindful of the things of God, paying greater attention to God’s ways, work, and pleasing Him. Then your lives will be filled with all that God is.”_ Ephesians 3:19 (CEV) REMEMBER: When the Bible says ‘You are Full of God’, it literally means God is fully present in you. You are a God-carrying vessel. It is written, “…Dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.” Romans 12:1 (NLT). But why does God need us to maintain our bodies in purity and in service to Him? We see the answer in the verse that says, “If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.” 1 Corinthians 3:17. The Temple is not just an ordinary place, it is the place in which the manifested Presence of the Almighty God resides [read 2 Chronicles 7:1-3]. Throwing further light on the subject, Apostle Paul said: “But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him…Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:17, 19-20 It is written, “The mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:26-27. So, God definitely wouldn’t do that to you - God does not give false hope. Only do what is expected of you as you confidently and faithfully wait on Him. Stay alert and keep praying for God’s people.”_ Ephesians 6:18 (CEV) REMEMBER: The instruction to ‘never stop praying’ in our opening verse is one that is reverberated throughout the Scriptures, our Lord Jesus himself being a forward of this. The Bible says, “…tremendous power is released through the passionate, heartfelt prayer of a godly believer!” James 5:16 (TPT). Reading further, the Bible tells us that we are the Temple of the Holy Spirit; meaning God lives in us (1 Corinthians 3:16; 4:15). With that in mind, God said, “I will hear the prayers made in this temple, because it belongs to me…” 2 Chronicles 7:15-16 (CEV). Our Lord Jesus echoed this to the people when He said, “…It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ ”” Matthew 21:13. In prayer, we worship God; we make requests to God; we express gratitude to God; we take sides with God to implement His Will by making declarations in line with His Word [read Job 22:21, 27]. Not praying is giving up; no wonder those without a consistent prayer life habitually struggle with depression, worrying, loss of motivation, anxiety, and lots more. The Scriptures tell us: “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:4, 6-7. So, praying, amongst other things, is your guarantee of a sound mind, inner peace, and divine solutions. We can also see this in what King David said: “Though I love them, they stand accusing me like Satan for what I’ve never done. I will pray until I become prayer itself.” Psalms 109:4 (TPT). It embodies God’s plan for His Church - every Christian; He through us enforces His plans on the earth as we study the Word of God to know His Will and enforce it through Prayers. Also, preaching the Gospel is another way in which He expresses His Will through us [read Romans 1:16]. The Bible says, “For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13. Yes, it is God! So, God expects you to continually humble yourself in the fear of God so that He can do wonderful things in, with, and through you. And the way you humble yourself is to study and live by The Word of God - doing what it says - and praying always; because prayer is an act of humility. Or What will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26). The word ‘Soul’ here is translated from the Greek word ‘Psuchē’, which also refers to ‘the breath of life’. So, Our Lord Jesus was by implication asking, “What can a man give in exchange for His Life (His Salvation)?” Can you think of anything? The Bible says in Psalm 22:29 “All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: All they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: And none can keep alive his own soul.” Yes, none can keep alive His own Soul - no man can save Himself. So, let God help you. “Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. Before the above Scriptures, He had engaged something Peter said thus: “Jesus turned to Peter and said, “Get out of my way, you Satan! 🗒️ SUP’STUDY [DAILY DEVOTIONAL] 📝 _“…Commanding your day…”_ [Thursday, 02/05/2024] ✏️CARRY EXTRA OIL _“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”_ Matthew 25:13 REMEMBER: Oil in the Bible is generally depictive of the anointing of God’s Spirit, that is, a symbol of divine endowment. But, an endowment for what? This endowment is for ‘Service’. The anointing of God’s Spirit is the necessary catalyst for serving God; it produces in you the divine ability both to know and to do the things that God wants for you (God’s Will). For example, we see both Saul and David being anointed with oil in their respective ordinations as Kings; we also see this with the ordination of Priests. The Bible says, “Then he asked, “What do you see?” “A solid gold lampstand with an oil container above it,” I answered. “On the stand are seven lamps, each with seven flames. One olive tree is on the right side and another on the left of the oil container. Then he asked, “Don’t you know?” “No sir,” I replied. So the angel explained that it was the following message of the Lord to Zerubbabel: I am the Lord All-Powerful. So don’t depend on your own power or strength, but on my Spirit.” Zechariah 4:2-3, 5-6 (CEV) That is why the term ‘the anointing of the Spirit’ is often employed; it is because the Holy Spirit is the one who produces that divine influence in the one who is anointed. So, right from the Old Testament days, oil was symbolically used to represent this ‘influence of the Holy Spirit’ on a person. Apostle Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13). Notice the use of ‘which’ and not ‘who’ in the KJV; this implies He was referring to the anointing of Christ at work in Him and not Christ Jesus Himself. This brings to bear that it is a vital phrase in Christendom as a whole. God could have taken each one of us straight up to heaven immediately after we first professed our faith in Him, but you see He didn’t. He left us here on earth for a clear and definite purpose - for us to make known His Glory (His Love, Mercy, Righteousness, Justice, Greatness, Goodness, Excellence, Perfection) to the rest of the World [read 1 Peter 2:9]. This way many others would come to know Him (John 17:3). In our study of yesterday, we saw that pleasing God was necessary for enjoying Him; but you see, you cannot please one whom you do not know. To please Him, you must know Him; this is so that you can continue to know how to please Him. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. What does it take to enjoy God? Well, our opening Scripture shows us exactly where to start. King David said, “I have not neglected your instructions, for you yourself are my teacher. How sweet is the taste of your instructions — sweeter even than honey!” Psalms 119:102-103 (GNB). To enjoy God has to do with “Taking paths which He prepared for us ahead of time, that we should walk in them; and living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live” (Ephesians 2:10). The only thing it takes to live this Life is to be in Christ (to be born again). Once you’re in Christ, then God through His Word supplies you with the very essence of fulfillment - every blessing that exists. But you see, to enjoy God you must be able to please Him. Our Lord Jesus said to ‘seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.’ And further said, “Abide in me and let my Words abide in you” (John 15:7). That’s how you ‘hit the jackpot’ with God. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.”_ John 15:1-2 (NLT) REMEMBER: When talking about the Fruits of the Spirit, the first things that come to mind are Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-control; but in essence, these are actually the results (fruit) of the Holy Spirit’s influence on our own Spirits. In other words, these are the expected characteristics of the recreated Human Spirit (the New Creation, one who is born again). This is exactly what the Bible shows us in the book of Galatians which reads: “But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature together with its passions and appetites. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.”_ John 14:26 (AMPC) REMEMBER: A major highlight of the Holy Spirit’s character is the fact that He executes God’s Word, hence enforcing God’s Will. The Bible says, “The Lord gives voice before His army, For His camp is very great; For strong is the One who executes His word...” Joel 2:11. This talks about the Holy Spirit; just like in the book of Genesis when God said “Let there be light…” and the Holy Spirit was there to make it happen [read Genesis 1:1-25]. We also see this in the Holy Spirit’s expression as the Spirit of Wisdom, He says: “I, Wisdom…Counsel and sound knowledge are mine. I have understanding and power…I walk in the way of righteousness, in the middle of the paths of justice…The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his work, before his deeds of old. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth existed…then I was the craftsman by his side…” Proverbs 8:12, 14, 20, 22-23, 30 (WEB). This makes it clear to us that the Holy Spirit is the only one who can bring to pass God’s Word in your Life - invest in fellowshipping with Him. This makes you an activist for Christ and begins with your own daily life. Our Lord Jesus said, “…Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…” Matthew 6:33. He thereby made it clear that we are to follow after righteousness [read 1 Timothy 6:11]. As Children of God we are to be imitators of God (Ephesians 5:1), and the Bible says, “For the word of the Lord is right, And all His work is done in truth. He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.” Psalms 33:4-5. In the account of Jesus’ baptism by John the Baptist, the Bible says, “But Jesus replied to him, Permit it just now; for this is the fitting way for [both of] us to fulfill all righteousness [that is, to perform completely whatever is right]...” Matthew 3:15 (AMPC). The AMP puts our opening scripture thus: “But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God]…” Matthew 6:33 (AMP). Just like in Jesus’ words to John the Baptist, this clearly shows us what it means to seek God’s righteousness; it has to do with having things go God’s Way - as prescribed for us in The Word of God - by living in accordance yourself and also enforcing it around you. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”_ Revelation 22:12-13 REMEMBER: The Bible says, “In a multitude of people is a king’s honor….” Proverbs 14:28. This is why ‘Fruitfulness’ through Preaching, Soul Winning, Evangelism, Inviting people to Church, Establishing others in the Faith, and helping others maintain their relationship with God is so important - you are honoring Our Lord Jesus in so doing [read John 15:1-8]. Another aspect of honoring Our Lord Jesus is in ‘Obedience’, that is, living in adherence to the Word of God and executing the instructions thereof in our daily lives [read John 15:9-15]. He made it clear in our opening scripture that there’s a reward for living thus. The Bible says, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11. Not above ‘some’, but ‘Every’; this shows you how mighty our King truly is. 🗒️ SUP’STUDY [DAILY DEVOTIONAL] 📝 _“…Commanding your day…”_ [Monday, 22/04/2024] ✏️HONOR THE KING _“Treat everyone with high regard: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.”_ 1 Peter 2:17 (BSB) REMEMBER: Honoring the King here has to do with reverence for established authority. This has to do with our Earthly Leaders (both Spiritual Leaders and Secular Leaders), and ultimately The King of Kings (Our Lord Jesus). The TPT puts our opening verse thus: “Recognize the value of every person and continually show love to every believer. Live your lives with great reverence and in holy awe of God. Honor your rulers.” 1 Peter 2:17 (TPT). ‘Rulers’ here are primarily Institutional authorities (Governmental, Judicial, Academic, Financial, etc). The Bible says, “…the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries” 2 Peter 2:9-10. The Bible also shows us how Queen Vashti was dethroned and banished because she failed to apply the Law of Honor towards the King (Esther 1:10-22). This still happens today in different ways. Don’t make yourself a victim of dishonor - it is generally born from ignorance, contempt, pride, and arrogance. The Bible spells this out to us so clearly in the book of Romans, as to how we must relate to these Institutional Authorities, it reads: “Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished. For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Honor the king.”_ 1 Peter 2:17 REMEMBER: It is primordial that, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10. This will not change anytime soon. The AMPC puts it thus: “The [reverent] fear of the Lord [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the beginning and the preeminent part of wisdom [its starting point and its essence], And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding and spiritual insight.” Proverbs 9:10 (AMP). Read again to notice exactly what it says. Another version reads: “If you want to be wise in the way that you live, first you must respect the Lord with fear. If you know God, the Holy One, you will understand what is right.” Proverbs 9:10 (EASY). This is a must-have, must-do, and must-cultivate for every Child of God. The Word of God is that Wisdom; and the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Wisdom: “Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment.”” Matthew 22:37-38 Wisdom is too important to ignore. The Bible says, “A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel, The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:5, 7. It is so vital for you to walk in wisdom. The Scriptures say, “Out in the open wisdom calls aloud, she raises her voice in the public square…When calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you. “Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me, since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord. We saw a scripture yesterday which showed that failure to act right towards the Church and fellow Christians is why many Children of God are weak, chronically ill, and some even dying (1 Corinthians 11:30). If you truly are a part of the Church, and love the family, you won’t slander it nor disrepute fellow Believers. The Bible says, “The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ…we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit…If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything?… Yes, there are many parts, but only one body. The eye can never say to the hand, “I don’t need you.” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you.”…If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad. 🗒️ SUP’STUDY [DAILY DEVOTIONAL] 📝 _“…Commanding your day…”_ [Friday, 19/04/2024] ✏️HONOR EVERYONE _“Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.”_ 1 Peter 2:17 (DARBY) REMEMBER: It says, “Shew honour to all”; to ‘all’ and not to ‘some’. The term ‘Shew’ implies: to demonstrate, display, or prove. This principle is often times referred to as the ‘Law of Honor’. The lack of this is even now the undetected cause of many troubles that some Christians face [seemingly without solution]; as the Bible says, “This insensitivity is why many of you are weak, chronically ill, and some even dying.” 1 Corinthians 11:30 (TPT). According to Merriam-Webster, a law is: a statement of an order or relation of phenomena that so far as is known is invariable under the given conditions. Meaning there are definite results that hail from acting on this law. Honour is a spiritual law [or principle]. The Bible says, “Honor your Father and mother because this is the first commandment with promise” (Ephesians 6:1-3) meaning there’s an unstoppable benefit for doing so. The law of gravity which suggests that “What goes up must come down” applies to you whether or not you are aware of it and/or believe it. This is the same for every other law, and for the law of honour; it has been at work in your life so far, whether or not you were aware of it. When you honour people, you get blessings from God who made them. This is exactly what the Bible teaches when it says, “If you oppress poor people, you insult the God who made them; but kindness shown to the poor is an act of worship.” Proverbs 14:31 (GNB). It further adds that God is the maker of everyone (Proverbs 22:2), so honour everyone. Many years ago in Africa, Malaria (with some others) was considered the end for anyone who had it. Our opening verse puts it all together so beautifully, “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.” The KJV and some other versions make it more futuristic and/or continual, like “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” However it is put, the message remains clear - a Life of consistent supply, where our God daily loads us with benefits (Psalms 68:19). You see, this is beyond having millions in the bank or properties to your name but is more about having unlimited access to unlimited resources at every and any point in time both to enable/cause you to fulfil your purpose/destiny in Christ - the good life which we’ve been called to live. I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.”_ Jeremiah 17:9-10 REMEMBER: We set up doors and windows for ventilation because no matter how pleasant the smell of a house is, it can quickly develop the wrong smells when there’s no proper ventilation. This is true for our hearts as well. You find people who genuinely loved God yesterday who have become something else today, just like King Saul in the Bible. This man was given a new and kingly heart straight from God, but the Bible shows us that He didn’t end well because He didn’t leave His heart open to the one who gave it to Him [read 1 Samuel 10:1-6, 15:1-26]. You can be doing so much for God and for others, but the big question is, ‘What is the condition of your heart?’ It must be both guarded and vetted. One way of vetting the heart is through unconditional submission to the dictates of God’s Word (divine instructions). “Then the word of the Lord came to Samuel: “I regret that I have made Saul king, because he has turned away from me and has not carried out my instructions…” 1 Samuel 15:10-11 (NIV). This is why Prophet Samuel told King Saul “Obedience is better than sacrifice” (1 Samuel 15:22-23). Say, “I will finish well!” As long as you are on the earth, how you end matters more than how you started - man’s heart requires maintenance. The Bible says, “The end of a thing is better than its beginning…” Ecclesiastes 7:8. You might have started out your Christian race well; you might be living your life so decently; you might be in a divine euphoria right now, but do well to leave it (your heart) open [to God’s maintenance]. 🗒️ SUP’STUDY [DAILY DEVOTIONAL] 📝 _“…Commanding your day…”_ [Saturday, 06/04/2024] ✏️ARE YOU THE ONE? _“And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples and said to Him, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”_ Matthew 11:2-3 REMEMBER: There is such a thing as “…the works of Christ…”. We saw that Christ is a person, a place, a body, and also an anointing (ability for responsibility - an anointing for office). This is why Apostle Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13. Notice He didn’t use the pronoun ‘who’, but ‘which’ because He was referring to that anointing called ‘Christ’. It is an empowerment for the specific responsibilities/assignments of a Saviour - ‘the Messiah’. What made Jesus different from any other Prophet of old was this very anointing - He carried the fullness of God; so He said, “…‘Behold, I have come— In the volume of the book it is written of Me— To do Your will, O God.’ ”Hebrews 10:7. Jesus having fully fulfilled this role died and rose again, bringing forth a whole new race (species, breed) of ‘Saviours’ (Obadiah 1:21). This is why the Bible says, “…as He is, so are we in this world” (1 John 4:17) and not ‘when we get to heaven’. This is why He gave us His very Life (Eternal Life) and Nature (Righteousness) [read 1 John 5:13, Romans 6:13]. In response to this, John the divine said, “Beloved, now are we the Sons of God….” (1 John 3:1-3). And Apostle Paul having understood our assignment said, “Creation is eagerly waiting for the Sons of God to manifest” (Romans 8:19). The Bible tells us that we become alive in God - born into God - when we are born again, but then this doesn’t fully establish a tangible difference between us and the World. The Bible says, “And we all, with unveiled face, continually seeing as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are progressively being transformed into His image from [one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord, [who is] the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18 (AMP). This is how the difference becomes clear - when we begin to look into God’s mirror (The Word of God) by His Spirit (the Holy Spirit), and we are continually transformed into what the Bible tells us about God and us, His Children. It is something that doesn’t end as long as you continue to grow in your walk/relationship with the Lord [through His Word and by the Holy Spirit]. But what is Glory? And what is the Glory of God? Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines Glory as: praise, honor, or distinction extended by common consent: something that secures praise or renown: a distinguished quality or asset: a state of great gratification or exaltation: a height of prosperity or achievement: great beauty and splendor: something marked by beauty or resplendence: the splendor and beatific happiness of heaven. All these definitions are very accurate descriptions of the components of Glory. God says, “Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.”_ Ecclesiastes 3:9-11 REMEMBER: To say “It’s time for my miracle, blessings, change, harvest, testimony, and many more” requires you to understand that it also implies it’s time to take your relationship with God and your work towards God more seriously. Notice what the latter part of our opening verse says, “…He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.” This implies that your pursuit in life shouldn’t be the pursuit to know it all, but the pursuit of understanding times and seasons just like it is written about the sons of Issachar (1 Chronicles 12:32). The absence of such an understanding of life’s timings is what Jesus said was the downfall of Jerusalem (and Israel as a whole). He said, “For days will come upon you when your enemies will…level you, and your children …because you did not know the time of your visitation.” Luke 19:43-44. A glorious life doesn’t come only with knowing the right thing to do but also the right time for it. Knowing the right time is paramount and of priority. The Bible says, “For man also does not know his time: Like fish taken in a cruel net, Like birds caught in a snare, So the sons of men are snared in an evil time, When it falls suddenly upon them.” Ecclesiastes 9:12. But God is kind, so He gave us two Gifts to help us; the first one is Light - the light of God’s Word - which lights our paths, showing us where to tread and how to tread. This is what Jesus was referring to when He said He was going to prepare a place for us. He said, “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places. If it were not so, I would have told you, because I am going there to prepare a place for you…And [to the place] where I am going, you know the way.” John 14:2, 4 (AMP). Did you notice that He said we know the way? Yes, we do! That way is faith in the Gospel (Good News) about Jesus [read Hebrews 4:1-3]. In response to this question, a preacher once said “God is exactly where He was as He watched His only begotten son being nailed to a cross.” This should cheer you up, you know! “Why?” you might wonder. Well, because that ordeal ended in a victory parade as Jesus rose from the grave. Praise God! So, whatever it is that you might be faced with right now, cheer up, God is right at the centre of it all; but there’s a catch - this is only true for those who love God. As it is written, “We know that God works to help those people who love him. He uses everything that happens to them to bring something good. He does this for those people that he has chosen to serve him.” Romans 8:28 (EASY). The big question now is, do you love God? Are you serving Him? While you answer those questions within yourself, the Bible makes it clear why many of God’s people go through certain hardships, it says, “The people do not know me. Because of that, they will come to an end. You refuse to respect my authority…You refuse to obey the law of your God…” Hosea 4:6 (EASY). Does this describe you? Do you truly know God? Understanding this is so important because we can only take advantage of our blessings in Christ to the extent of our knowledge and understanding of them. This is why Apostle Paul prayed so much for the brethren to come to this understanding as seen in Philemon 1:6 (AMPC), “[And I pray] that the participation in and sharing of your faith may produce and promote full recognition and appreciation and understanding and precise knowledge of every good [thing] that is ours in [our identification with] Christ Jesus [and unto His glory].” So, open your heart to the Spirit of God today so He can help you understand the Word of God coming to you on this subject. Praise God! As touching the aspect of ‘Deliverance’, many people - Christians - sometimes find themselves in a fix as to what to believe or how to manoeuvre; so pay close attention. The word ‘Riddance’ is the action of getting rid of a troublesome or unwanted person or thing; and according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, it means ‘Deliverance or Relief - often used…especially to express relief that someone or something has gone’. This is one of the things Christ represents for us, our total separation from anything that binds. Christ in you is your assurance of deliverance and relief from whatever situation you have been in, you are faced with now, or will ever be in. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation.”_ Proverbs 3:1, 3-4 (NLT) REMEMBER: The first prerequisite for having power with men as a Child of God is to have power with God (you can read yesterday’s article for more insight). The Bible says God is the Father of all Spirits (Hebrews 12:9), and Man is a Spirit; so settle your matters first with the one who runs it all, and all others will fall in place. To have power with men has nothing to do with exercising your will on others, no, but rather with obtaining favor in the sight of people in fulfilling your God-given purpose. Our opening verse also applied to our Lord Jesus Christ: “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” Luke 2:52. Many people having missed this tend to resort to a life that’s dependent on luck, No, it ought not to be so for the Child of God! There’s a sure and exact way to go about it. The Bible says, “…as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” Romans 12:18. It’s not ‘luck’, grow up! If you have favor with God and not with men, then you just might not live the glorious life planned for you as planned. One thing that can make you miss this is treating others wrongly, not being merciful, having an envious/covetous heart, disregarding honor, and ultimately not being concerned for the salvation of others. Now, as a Child of God, you have power with men but it takes walking in the wisdom of God - God’s Way for life - to enjoy this fully. 🗒️ SUP’STUDY [DAILY DEVOTIONAL] 📝 _“…Commanding your day…”_ [Thursday, 28/03/2024] ✏️ HAVE POWER WITH GOD _“And He said, Your name shall be called no more Jacob [supplanter], but Israel [contender with God]; for you have contended and have power with God and with men and have prevailed.”_ Genesis 32:28 (AMPC) REMEMBER: Our opening Scripture speaks of how Jacob contented with God to bless Him, and God changed His name (which didn’t mean much good) into something wonderful, alluding to the fact that ‘He had power with God.’ But what does it mean to have power with God? You see, Jacob was destined to inherit the Abrahamic Blessings, but for that to happen he had to get His own life (heart and mind) in sync with God. This is like so many Christians today with all of the amazing inheritance from God, but most aren’t walking in it yet. Why? For the same reason as Jacob. So, what exactly did Jacob do that brought a change? He had to be transformed, and that transfiguration came when He had that encounter with God - who eventually changed his name to ‘Israel’ causing him to possess the Abrahamic blessing which stated: “Blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.” Genesis 22:17-18 The Bible says, “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.” Acts 20:32. Why does He commend you to the Word of God? He never forces Himself or His help on you. Yesterday we looked at ‘What can God do through you?’ and today we’re looking at ‘What can God do in you?’ which now has to do with ‘what you can do through God!’; that’s literally another way of putting it. The Holy Spirit in you is God in you. The Word of God is God Himself and it fulfills in us exactly what God wants. God does nothing without His Word; this is how he created everything [read John 1:1-4], and this is how he will change your situation [bless you, make you successful, prosperous, and/or healthy]. So, you through the Word of God by the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in you can do the impossible. Just as it is written, “...with God all things are possible.” Mathew 19:26. God can only permanently help us to the extent of His power that we activate inside of us (Ephesians 3:20). This is how He guides us on the right paths for our lives - from inside us (Proverbs 37:23). The Bible says, “The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.” Isaiah 55:10-11 (NLT). Then we move to Joseph, “…It was God who sent me here _(to Egypt)_ ahead of you to preserve your lives...God has sent me ahead of you to keep you and your families alive and to preserve many survivors.” Genesis 45:5-7 (NLT). We move to Moses, “And the Lord said: Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me…Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” (Exodus 3:9-12). Then we have all the Judges and Prophets of the Old Testament whom God kept sending to bring relief, comfort, deliverance, and rest to His people. When Jesus showed up, He identified Himself with that same agenda and said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”Luke 4:18-19. After Jesus left the earth, He sent the Holy Spirit, who is also called “The Comforter” (John 14:26) and we see clearly that He needs available people like you and me to carry out His work on the earth. 🗒️ SUP’STUDY [DAILY DEVOTIONAL] 📝 _“…Commanding your day…”_ [Monday, 25/03/2024] ✏️WHAT CAN GOD DO WITH YOU? _“God is always on the alert, constantly on the lookout for people who are totally committed to him…”_ 2 Chronicles 16:9 (MSG) REMEMBER: God has a program He’s running on the earth with a definite timeline and activities. Being a friend of God or a person used by God is aligning yourself to God’s work in such a way as to be an influencer [a significant player and/or actor] in His plan - someone with intrinsic responsibilities. The Christian life is beyond cycles of singing choruses with goosebumps, then backsliding, and after that ‘re-sliding’, No! God is looking for stakeholders. He said, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9 (AMPC). Don’t read that in a rush, read it again being conscious that He’s talking to you. This is why God said of David, “…I have found David son of Jesse a man after My own heart, who will do all My will and carry out My program fully.” Acts 13:22 (AMPC). God is running a program! What can God do with you? What can be said of you? The Bible declares: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 (NIV). “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? SUP’STUDY [DAILY DEVOTIONAL] 📝 _“…Commanding your day…”_ [Sunday, 24/03/2024] ✏️WHAT CAN GOD DO FOR YOU? _“So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”_ Mark 10:51 REMEMBER: In the scripture above, the man was a well-known blind beggar and looked exactly like His condition. Let’s see the full story: “Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.” And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus. So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.” Mark 10:46-52 It was obvious that this man was blind, and yet Jesus went ahead to ask Him “…What do you want Me to do for you?“ It was possible for the man or the people watching to wonder or even get offended at the question; but no, they understood God’s rule about asking - your request must be definite. Notice also how Jesus said, “…Your faith has made you well.” This shows the difference between one who receives from God and one who doesn’t - Faith; this is a measurable difference. The Scriptures suggest that you can develop your faith: “…faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17 (BSB). Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded...Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”_ James 4:7-8, 10 REMEMBER: The Scripture above was not an address to Unbelievers, but to Dear Children of God. It is not a call to salvation, but a call to a more defined/definite walk with God. Many a time, when people pray and do not seem to receive answers [immediately or even later], they are so quick to blame it out on God - whether consciously or otherwise. They make statements such as “I’ve tried everything and it did not work.” Well, the one thing they almost never turn to is gaining more knowledge: what more, how better, or what exactly they could do. The Bible says, “…he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” James 1:6-8. This is the same thing Jesus said to His disciples when they made such a claim, wondering why their prayers didn’t work, though they felt like they had done everything necessary, He said, “…it didn’t work because of your unbelief…” I’m sure they may have been disturbed by that answer [read Mathew 17:19-20]. Pay rapt attention to every statement made in this Bible reading: “What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you _(within your own body/heart)_? You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. Only by living in the Word of God and walking in its truth…My life on earth is so brief, so tutor me in the ways of your wisdom.” Psalms 119:9, 19 (TPT). Jesus is the Word of God made flesh - the bread of life (John 6:51): “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” John 1:1, 4. Jesus is The [Only] Way you can know the reality of God and have a true revelation of Him. The Bible says, “…he _(Simeon)_ took Him _(Jesus)_ up in his arms and blessed God and said…For my eyes have seen Your salvation Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.” Luke 2:27-28, 30-32. Christ in you is the hope of Glory - your only hope of Glory (eternal salvation and rest in God, Colossians 1:27): “Salvation exists in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 (BSB). Let’s break this down, Christ Jesus said, “…I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12, implying that ‘He is the light of life!’ Then the Bible asks us to ‘remain in the light - which is the only way we are cleansed from all unrighteousness by the blood of Jesus’ (1 John 1:7). But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”_ James 1:2-4 REMEMBER: The NLT puts it this way, “Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” James 1:2-4 (NLT). This is what one can call the Christian Life. Your spiritual growth is not something superficial and oblique - no, it can be measured. In every system, there’s no true assurance of ability or capacity without the testing phase. We speak a lot concerning studying the Word of God, praying, and participating in Church activities, but the only way you can know whether or not the things you are doing and the knowledge you are imbibing are truly transforming you is by remembering and applying (practicing) these things in your daily life - in every aspect of it and round the clock. Note, “You cannot find true fulfillment (lasting joy) until you live [for something] beyond yourself.” Rev. Chris Oyakhilome DSc. DSc. DD. 🗒️ SUP’STUDY [DAILY DEVOTIONAL] 📝 _“…Commanding your day…”_ [Wednesday, 20/03/2024] ✏️CHRISTIANS - WHO ARE WE IN THIS WORLD? _“For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.”_ 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 REMEMBER: Let’s start with a quick background representation of what makes us Christians - it is because we are imitators of Christ, having been made to share in His Life (being born again), Nature, and Inheritance [read Romans 8:16-17]: “Therefore become imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father” Ephesians 5:1 (AMP). This is who we are as Christians in this world - imitators of Christ. No wonder He said, the more of Him we know from the Word of God the more like Him we become [read 2 Corinthians 3:18]. So then what exactly are we imitating? Let’s compare some scriptures: Jesus said of Himself, “…I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”John 8:12. Then He said of us, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14. Wow! This is why the Bible says, “…as He is, so are we in this world.” 1 John 4:17, meaning we ought to do exactly what He did [and does], because He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrew 13:8). Now, talking about what He did: Jesus said of Himself, “…the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10. And it is written of us that “...Saviours shall come up on mount Zion...” Obadiah 1:21. So, we are called to do exactly what Jesus did, that is, to seek and to save the ungodly through the preaching of the gospel; this is what we call Soul Winning and Evangelism.
