Been quiet on the gram. Things have been busy and honestly, when I have any down time at all I just don’t feel like posting on social media. We fill that time with creativity, travel, sports, family and friends. However, I do really appreciate all the DMs asking us to keep up the posting- which might just be the encouragement that I need to actually keep posting on this app! That and some friends who are going to keep me accountable for posting more regularly!;) Thank you for the encouragement and for wanting to see more of our day-to-day and our projects! Here is April in a glimpse. This month has been filled with installing projects, designing fun new projects, sports, tournaments, family and friends gatherings and so much more. I’m honestly not quite sure where it went! Today we have a photo shoot for our new construction project in the West Loop and we are thrilled to be documenting that beauty. Earlier this month we installed an 11,000 SF gut renovation project in the Boston area that we have been working on for a couple of years and I could not be more proud of my team. We completed the install in two days. You read that right. Our install team truly deserves gold medals for all of their hard work. It was seamless from exceptional planning that took many many hours, it was smooth from great communication and without any damage due to amazing vendors and moving teams. So grateful. With 10 movers and four 24’ trucks it was a very intense two days, but so rewarding. Next week we head to Michigan for a fun new project for family of past clients. We are always grateful for the repeat and referral clients that have been the backbone of our business since I founded GPD. Stay tuned. Rounding off a quiet Instagram week with a Friday post! We are in the midst of wrapping up the purchasing phase for big projects, installing even larger ones that we have been working on for years, in the design phase for new projects and generally just trying to get the balance right. That balance just never includes time spent on a screen! When we are not working we are always doing our favorite things- spending time with our kids, chauffeuring and cheerleading at the constant sports games or hanging out with friends and family. Seems to be very little time for the ‘gram at the moment. Reviews like these are what makes all the hard work and early rises worth it. Juggling an entrepreneurial life isn’t always easy- but it sure is rewarding. Especially when we get to work alongside such supportive, wonderful clients who truly allow us to dream big. No Monday blues around here! Woke up to 15k wonderful followers... it was amazing to me to see that we have hit this huge milestone. As someone who had never used social media, I’m often overwhelmed by idea of this platform but I truly do enjoy sharing designs that we have worked so hard to bring to life. These are extremely busy times and I often have trouble finding the time to post on Instagram and I am terrible at taking in progress photos. I also tend to hoard finished projects as they sometimes feel like babies that I’m not ready to share with the world, even though I am so incredibly proud of them. 15k may seem like very little to the influencers out there but being connected to a screen has never been what thrills me. As someone who never had done social media before I owned my own business, it has been a learning curve. One of growth and commitment to doing something that doesn’t come naturally. I have refused to outsource this work as I feel that the voice needs to match the design and needs to be consistent. I still don’t have a clue how to create a reel (total dinosaur), I am not consistent enough in my postings (hello, life!) and I am sure I could learn a million things about how best to use this platform. A HUGE thank you to the Chicago design community and to all the lovely friends and vendors who have reached out to congratulate us- I finally got my hands on a copy of the Modern Luxury magazine!! We are so beyond honored to be named as the “Best Design Studio” in Chicago in the latest @modernluxuryinteriors @interiors_chicago magazine. What an honor it is to be named as the best in a trade that I love so very much, to complete projects for clients that mean so very much to us and to work with trades that give us their all. To say that these successes come easily would be totally inaccurate. As an entrepreneur, as parents, as a boutique studio, we work our backsides off to do the best and be the best for our clients. All while trying to balance giving our all to our family as well, without missing anything at all. For those of you who are juggling, we see you! It is hell of hard work, lots of sleepless nights or early mornings... but it is so worth it. Sending out a massive thank you to all of you who recognize and appreciate our design work, a thank you to all our trades and partners that work with us to deliver the beautiful projects, with immense attention to detail and positive attitudes... thank you. You know who you are and you helped get us here by being amazing team players and being the best in your trades as well. We are a team that believes in getting the job done on time, done right, and we all roll up our sleeves to do whatever it takes to get there. You will often see me hauling construction debris on the days before an installation to make sure there are no delays and getting on my hands and knees to clean the floor before rug installs. After all, this job is far from always being glamorous. To my team... you really are the ultimate. I am so grateful for the dedication, the loyalty, the support, the love and for the friendship... Summer for Future 2023 Logo and branding The goal was to design a logo and brand identity for the summer animation project of the Diocese of Reggio Emilia in 2023. The aim was to embody the inspirational words of Gandhi: ‘A better world is a dream that begins to come true when each of us decides to improve ourselves.’ This project encourages individuals to recognize their place within various systems, families, friend groups, workplaces, and to understand that each person has the power to contribute to the betterment of the world. Just as every drop fills the ocean, every small action, no matter how seemingly insignificant, has the potential to create significant change.
