I am absolutely a HUGE fan of having people put their phones away and really be there with you during your wedding ceremony. When I make the announcement, before you arrive, you should hear the groans. In particular, the older generation can get a bit narky when I say "no pictures". However, when I let them know that I'll stop for a minute to let them snap away after you've arrived before putting their phones away for the rest of the time everyone sparks up again. Its a great moment not just for them, but for you, to pause and take in the reality of where you are and what you're doing before we begin in earnest. I did this wedding at a gorgeous little hidden gem of a park in a tiny village near Laidley. A bit of a hike for me but SO worth it. However on the way home, due to a 4 car pile up, I sat without moving on the Warrego Hwy for nearly 90 minutes before we got going again. I'll be honest, I used only cheap flowers and I had zero skill. But looking back at this makes me so happy 🥰. It makes me extremely proud at how far I have come since then with my business. My floral design work today has evolved so much 🌸. Even though I can see the faults, I'm not embarrassed to be judged on this as I see so much more. A lot of vendors will tell you its a myth... but ... um... well... The thing about weddings is how effing important they are and how perfect everything has to be. If the cake you ordered from the Cheesecake shop for grandad's 80th gets a smear in the frosting on the way home, you'll just turn it around so the icky bit faces the back. If you're wedding cake has a thumb print, or the venue runs out of yellow napikins and puts our 4 orange ones, or the celebrant gets one of your kid's names wrong..... it becomes a train wreck of disappointment. There's a certain degree of expectation placed upon wedding suppliers that isn't the same as a kids' birthday party at Maccas. It costs more to achieve that perfection. Between good, quick and cheap... you can only ever have 2 out of 3. Weddings come in all different shapes and sizes. Sometimes they are big black tie affairs at swanky venues, sometimes they are small intimate elopements on a beach. Sometimes, the location doesn’t matter at all because it’s all about who you share it with. These two lovers decided yesterday that they wanted to get married today with grandma present. It was hugely important to them both that she be there and boy was she surprised. We quickly arranged a shortening of time and this morning they got to say the most important words to each other with grandma there to see it all. It was incredibly moving and special. Sometimes the importance of marriage gets lost in the tulle, the flowers, the songs etc. this morning was a beautiful and refreshing reminder that marriage is about who you want to share your life with. 💪 MYSTERIOUS HOT SHIRTLESS MAN 🔥 When Sarah caught a glimpse of Reuben pumping out pull-ups in the rock climbing gym shirtless, she was SHOCKED 😱! Who knew he had rock-hard abs and pecks hiding under all of those loose-fitting shirts he would wear around the gym?! This kicked started operation - get Reuben to date Sarah. Three key strategic moves were going to secure the goods for Sarah: 1) Tactical dinner seating arranagements at group post climb dinners 2) Slide into his DM's with hilarous memes and reels 3) Find ANY common interests when the opportunity presented itself Innocently, Reuben had no idea what his shirtless antics had caused. In Australia we have the Notice of Intended Marriage! It's the first form you complete and lodge with your celebrant a minimum of one month prior to the ceremony. If you need to fill it out yourself before you give it to a celebrant I've created a much better set of instructions than the ones on the back of the form. DANIEL ❤️ CAITLIN - 04.04.24 Where do I even start. This was a wedding that was pure class with a whole lot of personality thrown in. Caitlin and Daniel got engaged on 03.03.23 so what better date to get married than 04.04.24. The ceremony was full of laughs and happy tears. And then when the gorgeous couple went off for photos, all their guests were led on a 90 minute mystery challenge. The order of service folded out to a map and clues to funky bars for a cold cocktail, picking up more clues onto the final destination - the reception.
