With the #BoysToo team pushing forward with its impressive mission, we recently had the privilege of collaborating with and learning more about some of the incredible organizations in the fight against human trafficking. Among them was Reclaim611 – a brilliant venture founded by Carrie Schirato and Candace Rich, two nurses whose passion to make a difference was spawned after they realized how many cases of human trafficking were slipping through their fingers due to lack of proper training. Reclaim611 is committed to providing healthcare professionals, schools and first responders with relevant training, protocols and resources to help them identify those who have become victims of trafficking much earlier than before. Reclaim611 strives to equip medical personnel with trauma-informed care protocols, so that victims can be properly taken care of and connected to necessary resources for further help. Their efforts are extremely important in saving more lives from this abhorrent crime – something which became very apparent during our insightful meeting. We truly believe that collaboration is key when it comes to fighting this issue, and Reclaim611 is an exemplary example of what can be accomplished when allies come together. Justin grew up at Shining Light and is now serving the Lord and others as he serves and preaches in churches! • We also enjoyed having Mrs. Elliot back with us that evening! • Our men on staff, Tanner Koske and Ronald Reynoso had the opportunity to share the gospel in one of our local public schools and to lead a young man to Christ! • Pastor and Dj Beckwith enjoyed attending the Faith Wins Convention in Tucson, Arizona. • Our high school students and staff enjoyed a time of food and fellowship at their 2024 Academy High School Banquet. • Our High School Bible Quiz Bowl team went to nationals last Tuesday and placed sixth overall! • Our juniors and seniors enjoyed touring Washington, DC with Aaron and Alycia Cruse. • We recently repainted the exterior of the Harbor House.

We rejoice in 4 brothers led to Christ this past Saturday, a young couple committing to follow the Lord in believers baptism, and 4 of our men surrendering their lives to serve the Lord in ministry. • Our church family had the opportunity to supply groceries to 44 families in need in our community this past Saturday! Thank you to all those who organized and helped with this quarter’s Day of Caring. We were also able to share the Bread of Life - Jesus Christ. • Our Young Adult Life Group was able to raise $235.00 for Operation Giving Back. The money will go towards gift cards for college students of SL! We had many campus updates over our Academy Spring Break! • We added new spring flowers to our planters. • The Lobby of the main building was freshly painted and we installed a new hallway to the future drive thru area. • The front/side of the Harbor House is almost complete! Highlights from this past week at Shining Light. • We had a wonderful Children’s Dedication Day last Sunday and rejoiced with Joshua and Stephanie Pate on the dedication of Lily Pate! • We thank the Lord for this young man following the Lord in believers baptism yesterday morning! • Our church family enjoyed celebrating Pastor and Mrs. Cruse for their 34th Anniversary at Shining Light. • Our Academy 2nd Grade classes enjoyed a field trip to the Monroe Science Center! • The Drop off area at the Harbor House has been redone. • We were fix a water leak near our Adams Chapel this week. • The first phase of our new Fiber Optic Cable was installed this past week as well! Highlights from this past week at Shining Light. • Our Church and Academy families enjoyed celebrating our seniors at Senior Night this past Friday. 🦈 Congratulations to our varsity basketball seniors David Sanabia, Devin Arrington, Rebekah Henegar, and Brisa Ramirez! • Our academy wind band had the opportunity to play for those in the Brookedale Union Park Assisted Living Center! • Our high school health classes were visited by former paramedic, Brandon Starnes. They were taught valuable lessons on health and safety! • We installed new flags in the Adam’s Chapel. • A new road sign for Heritage Christian Road, the road behind our Church and Academy, was installed by the city of Monroe. • A new speed bump was installed to improve the safety on our Main Campus. • Pastor Cruse had the opportunity to attend the AACS Lead Conference this past Monday-Wednesday. #shininglight #monroenc #beashininglight #thelordsdoings

To God be the glory! Highlights from the past week at Shining Light. • We rejoice with the Mathis family as they recently welcomed their third baby boy, Oaklen Millsaps Mathis. Born 9/3/23. • We had a great First Day of Classes for our elementary & middle school on Main Campus, and also for our high school on South Campus. Go Sharks! 🦈 • Pastor Cruse had the opportunity to speak to our elementary students in the first chapel service of the school year. • Administrator, Aaron Cruse, had the opportunity to speak to our middle school students in the first chapel service of the year as well. • A new sidewalk was paved in preparation for our classrooms in the Harbor House. • The windows for each new classroom in the Harbor House were installed. To God be the glory! Highlights from the past week at Shining Light. • We are thankful for the King's faithful service with us these past four years. We are praying for their family as they begin ministering alongside Wesley's grandfather at Lake Street Baptist Church in Chesterfield, Indiana. • We are thankful for how the Lord brought Pastor and Mrs. Cruse, Nathan and Ruth Ware, Daniel and Jamie Jones, and Vaudi Larson together yesterday morning. The Lord has knit their hearts together in various ways over the years. • We had a spectacular orientation with our academy families this past Friday evening. We are looking forward to the beginning of our 2023-2024 school year. The first day of school is tomorrow, September 5 at 8:00 a.m. • We are thankful for the addition of Sergeant Jeff Furr to our campus security team. • Zach Kerns has the opportunity to serve as chaplain for the Monroe Fire Department. He recently attended the new recruit graduation ceremony with Chief Fowler as well as the opening of Fire Station 6 on Rocky River Road. Happy New month. By God's grace and mercy, the month of September holds new grounds and heights for us in Christ regardless of what is or what isn't. All God will have us do is written in His Word. Which says, Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6) So, let's walk into this month trusting God wholeheartedly and it is sure to be a September to remember for good. #beashininglight
