This inspiring 1960’s home brings a Southern California coastal charm to Amagansett, New York. Architect @starlingarchitecture and designer @emilylindberg.design worked with the client to create a personal narrative within the design, while maintaining the original spirit of this 1960’s seaside gem. Starling Architecture incorporated minimalist design, using Gendai Shou Sugi Ban cladding for its durability and coastal aesthetic. The home centres around a pool, connecting indoor and outdoor spaces with floor-to-ceiling glazing. Natural light floods the interior, accentuating timber details and white oak floors. Emily Lindberg Design enhanced the warmth with bespoke timber joinery and playful accents inspired by the beach. Vintage and handmade pieces add character, while landscaping by Design Projects complements the dune surroundings. This dolphin in Amagansett was at times less than 5 yards from the sand. I usually get to the beach around 6:30am for a few reasons, the air is still and the whales are more frequent, but mostly because it’s quiet and I get to see the ocean with less human disturbance. Beautiful example of a shark utilizing its dorsal fin to make pinpoint turns. Like a rudder on a boat, the tall fin of a shark allows for efficient and agile movements. I came across this sandbar shark yesterday when I noticed some splashing just past the break, and was surprised to find a species I’ve never seen before. Although they’re one of the most common species along the western Atlantic, this is the first time I’ve properly filmed one. These sharks can grow up to 8ft long and typically swim at depths of 30-200 feet, rarely coming to the surface. They’re known for their tall, triangular fin that prominently sticks above the surface when pursuing prey. Due to its preference for small prey these sharks aren’t considered a threat to humans. Beautiful example of a shark utilizing its dorsal fin to make pinpoint turns. Like a rudder on a boat, the tall fin of a shark allows for efficient and agile movements. I came across this sandbar shark yesterday when I noticed some splashing just past the break, and was surprised to find a species I’ve never seen before. Although they’re one of the most common species along the western Atlantic, this is the first time I’ve properly filmed one. These sharks can grow up to 8ft long and typically swim at depths of 30-200 feet, rarely coming to the surface. They’re known for their tall, triangular fin that prominently sticks above the surface when pursuing prey. Due to its preference for small prey these sharks aren’t considered a threat to humans. This dolphin in Amagansett was at times less than 5 yards from the sand. I usually get to the beach around 6:30am for a few reasons, the air is still and the whales are more frequent, but mostly because it’s quiet and I get to see the ocean with less human disturbance. Beautiful example of a shark utilizing its dorsal fin to make pinpoint turns. Like a rudder on a boat, the tall fin of a shark allows for efficient and agile movements. I came across this sandbar shark yesterday when I noticed some splashing just past the break, and was surprised to find a species I’ve never seen before. Although they’re one of the most common species along the western Atlantic, this is the first time I’ve properly filmed one. These sharks can grow up to 8ft long and typically swim at depths of 30-200 feet, rarely coming to the surface. They’re known for their tall, triangular fin that prominently sticks above the surface when pursuing prey. Due to its preference for small prey these sharks aren’t considered a threat to humans.
