A wildfire erupted again at Margalla Hills National Park in Islamabad on Friday due to a severe heatwave. The fire started near Kalenjar village and quickly spread across the Margalla Hills. Upon receiving the alert, CDA officials and fire brigade vehicles rushed to the scene to extinguish the blaze. Citizens captured videos showing smoke billowing from the hills, expressing concerns for the wildlife. Recently, two fires were reported in Chiran Di Gali and Saidpur area. It took around seven hours for firefighters and three helicopters from the defence authorities and Prime Minister's Office to control the flames. However, the next day saw new fires at 15 different locations, requiring another eight hours of efforts to put out. CDWP has given the green light for the construction of a 241-kilometer stretch of the Karakoram Highway (KKH), as part of CPEC, ahead of PM Shehbaz Sharif’s China visit. The project, estimated at Rs567.5 billion (about $2 billion), is set to be financed through a Chinese soft loan. It encompasses upgrading and realigning the KKH from Thakot to Raikot Bridge, including a 103-km bypass from Thakot to Dasu, relocation at Dasu Dam, and new construction after Basha-Thor Nullah. The CDWP also approved the Rs42 billion Golen Gol Hydropower project in Chitral, to be funded by various international entities. ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Friday slashed the price of petrol by Rs 4.74 per litre for the next fortnight, ARY News reported. After the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Finance Ministry reduced the prices of petrol by Rs 4.74 per litre and diesel by Rs 3.86 per litre. اسلام آباد : بجلی کے 200 استعمال کرنے والے یونٹ والے صارفین کیلئے بڑی خوشخبری آگئی ، وزیراعظم نے اہم ہدایات جاری کردیں۔ تفصیلات کے مطابق حکومت نے پروٹیکٹڈ صارفین کو ریلیف دینے کا فیصلہ کرلیا، بجٹ میں 200 یونٹ والے چھوٹے صارفین کیلئے نیا ریلیف پیکج متعارف کرائے جانے کا امکان ہے۔ ذرائع نے بتایا کہ 200 یونٹ استعمال کرنے والوں کیلئے حکومت ایک سوساٹھ ارب روپے کی سبسڈی برداشت کرے گی۔ وزیراعظم شہباز شریف نے 200 یونٹس والوں کیلئے ٹیرف میں اضافہ نہ کرنے کی ہدایت کرتے ہوئے پروٹیکٹڈ صارفین کیلئے بجلی نرخ میں اضافے کی معاشی ٹیم کی تجویز مسترد کردی۔ ذرائع وزیراعظم آفس نے کہا ہے کہ 2 کروڑ پروٹیکٹڈ صارفین کو بجلی نرخوں میں سبسڈی فراہم کی جائے گی اور آئندہ مالی سال بجلی نرخوں میں اضافہ پروٹیکٹڈ گھریلو صارفین کیلئے نہیں کیا جائے گا۔ ذرائع کے مطابق بڑے صارفین کیلئے بجلی ٹیرف میں اضافہ نئے مالی سال کے پہلے ماہ سے کیا جائے گا اور پروٹیکٹڈ صارفین کو رواں مالی سال کے اختتام تک 160 ارب کی سبسڈی دی جائے گی۔ #ARYNews

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday urged the automobile industry to start local manufacturing of vehicles and export a considerable ratio of their products to contribute to national development. The Pakistan government is expected to unveil a new relief package aimed at small consumers who use up to 200 units of electricity monthly, ARY News reported on Friday, citing sources. As per details, PM Shehbaz Sharif has directed that there should be no increase in power tariffs for those consuming 200-unit monthly consumers. Sources from the Prime Minister’s Office have indicated that Shehbaz Sharif has rejected the economic team’s proposal to increase electricity rates for protected consumers. Instead, a subsidy will be provided to these consumers, ensuring that approximately 20 million protected users will not face a hike in electricity tariffs in the upcoming fiscal year 2024-25. The government is committed to providing a total subsidy of Rs. 160 billion to protected consumers by the end of the current fiscal year, the sources said and added that power tariff for other consumers will be jacked up. #ARYNews

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has released an important clarification regarding the taxes imposed on bringing mobile phones from abroad. According to the details, PTA has addressed the recent news about the taxes on importing mobile phones, clarifying that there has been no official decision to remove these taxes in Pakistan, contrary to what some online reports suggest. PTA emphasized that only overseas Pakistanis will be exempted from these taxes. Non-PTA mobile users can temporarily register their devices by simply inserting a SIM card and restarting their phones. The government has introduced a system named the Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS), which enables the blocking of unverified mobile phones on cellular networks. To prevent the spread of misinformation, PTA advised citizens to rely on official sources for updates and to refrain from sharing unverified information. It is worth noting that last year, the government introduced a facility allowing overseas Pakistanis to register their handsets tax-free for 120 days during each visit through a temporary registration system.
