COLD WATER WARNING The warm air temperatures in the coming weeks will be in the 70s to 80s may cause people to underestimate the dangers of the cold water temperatures, which are currently only in the mid 50s across Sebago Lake, Lake Winnipesaukee, and in the region’s smaller lakes and rivers. More info at coldwatersafety.org The cold water temperatures can quickly cause hypothermia to anyone immersed in the water. When the water temperature is below 60 degrees, the average submerged person could loose dexterity within minutes and be unable to accomplish simple tasks. Anyone on small boats, canoes, or kayaks should plan accordingly if recreating this weekend and use extreme caution to avoid this threat. This porch is the best part of a house built over 100 years ago on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee in NH. At the time, it was one of only a handful of cabins on the unpaved street. We are SO back 🙌 In so many senses of that phrase I am FEELING that exact vibe lately, but in a much more literal sense: we are BACK at the cabin on Winnipesaukee for the very first time in 2024! It’s opening weekend, so we’re busy cleaning, dusting, bringing things out of storage, and getting everything ready for the season. Chiko seemed to remember this place right away and happily took his first lake dip yesterday afternoon. It’s always such a good feeling coming back here. This place is just as much my home as where we live now or where I grew up, if not more, as it’s been the same my entire life.
