I continue to draw people because I like it and it's interesting. Analyzing art from the perspective of what attracts me and people, I noticed that the greatest attention is paid to the human figure. Perhaps this is due to the fact that when looking at an object, we look for familiar shapes and the most recognizable shape is the human figure. It is the one that interests us the most. We just like to look at people. Advertising and photographs without a human are also perceived as a little distant. However, as soon as we add a person, we immediately feel some kind of connection with the image, imagining ourselves in his or her place. For example, Will Turner's "Sl*ve Ship". A rather chaotic picture, where in the distance you can see the outlines of a sinking ship caught in a storm. But if you look closely at the foreground, you can see the arms and legs of drowning people, and at this moment that this picture evokes a storm of emotions in me. Yeeey! Another project is done! Made for @harkerboardco In this project I tried to make multiply overlay effect. Who knows Photoshop will understand me. But in simple words it’s when two colors overlay on each other and mix together, so you get a third color. It took me quite a time, more than I thought at least. But I’m very happy with the result. How to overcome perfectionism? And is it necessary? In my work, this gives me the desire for excellence and the constant search for new ideas and solutions. The ability to refer to perfectionism provides an incredible resource. Because it gives a super high-quality result. And now I'm not talking about a painful obsession, but about the desire to do better than I have ever done. With this mindset, I often overwork, but it gives me more joy, because I know that I have provided the highest quality result. And in art it is necessary, I would say - this is the basis for me. Constant checking of anatomy, if, for example, I draw in a realistic manner (in this case, there is little chance of crooked figures), accurate mixing of colors, quality materials and cleanliness of the workplace. What shouldn’t you do? I often come across such headlines regarding creativity and drawing. And it's always funny to me. What is beautiful about creativity is that it is complete freedom and restrictions are not appropriate here. No matter how you drive yourself into the framework, continuing to create, you will absolutely destroy them. During the history of art, the standard "rules" have been violated so many times that there is simply no concept of a standard. Create, no matter how you do it, it's your choice and path. Moreover, breaking the rules gave a much more interesting result. But this is not a call to drop learning! I would never say this. Here, rather, pay attention to what you would like to improve and ... improve! So my answer to the question “What shouldn’t you do?” would be: you shouldn’t do what you don't like. Creating beer packages was an interesting challenge, as the original goal was for each package to be different. For example, this package is dedicated to the turquoise sea of La Paz. How do I make paintings? 🤔 The information may vary and the process may change as I work every day to get the job done more efficiently. But now everything is point by point: 1. It all starts... with an iPad! ✍🏼 I first make a digital sketch of the painting to decide on the colors and composition. This greatly speeds up the process, since the iPad forgives more mistakes than a canvas. At this stage, I think over the main color spots and the contrast of the composition. 2. Transferring the picture. 🖼️ And here I am using a projector! It is foolish not to use the tools when you have them at hand. Again, this speeds up the process at times! It would be possible to use a grid, but I do not see the point in this. And small works (like this one, in the post) I do simply by hand. 3. Primer. 🔍 A primer I use depends on the purpose. Because I just can't stand the smell of gesso (it smells like manure!!). Therefore, I have a roll of already primed canvas. The first layer, I apply a thin layer of acrylic paint. I do this to make the canvas less absorbent, plus the canvas is not so white. 4. Getting started. 🎨It's like all classics taught. Work from the spot, from the largest to the smallest. Often the work changes from the original idea already in the process of drawing. Here I try to experiment to the maximum and not be afraid of new ideas. 5. Varnish. ✨It depends on the goal and desires. I varnish my works when I want to deepen the shadows in them, add contrast. But when the work is painted in thick textural strokes, then (in my opinion) varnishing will be not necessery. Here is a quick description of my creative process. I recently read an article about the direct connection between humor and creativity. Like, a person in the creative sphere increases the chances of generating new ideas if he is simultaneously passionate about comedy. This thought seemed interesting to me. Of course, if you only watch stand-up and comedy shows every day, you will not become a great creative artist. However, we, as pack creatures, are used to adopting each other's behavior patterns. In comedy (naturally, they meant quality comedy, although everything is relative here) there is a constant generation of ideas, since the funniest, as a rule, is the most unexpected, but intuitive. Achieving such a balance is not always so easy, but when it happens - there is a catharsis of laughter with tears from the eyes. This, of course, is not a dogma, but a connection noticed by scientists, which sometimes may not be observed. For my part, I will say that remembering the funniest people in my life, I found that they are somehow connected with creativity. Why am I talking about this? Laugh and joke ladies and gentlemen! I became an artist by accident. My friend decided to study architecture. To do this, she needed to improve her ability to draw. She decides to go to art school. And here I am in this story. Since my friend was bored studying alone, she took me with her. And so my journey in art began. End of school. I need to think about where to go. I am still a careless teenager with a very vague idea of what I will be doing in the future. I walk along the streets of Almaty city in the district called Orbita. August, it's hot outside, somewhere around 30 degrees Celsius. I see a large building of KazGasa University, I remember that a classmate said that she was going to go there. I decide to come in. I like the building, I decide to go to college at the Faculty of Design. So college is over. I need to keep studying. Plans to study in Germany do not add up due to the strange political situation. A week before the start of the school year, I find out that a classmate entered the University in St. Petersburg. I decide to try. I send them my portfolio, they accept me without exams. That is the 10 years learning way. Where fate chosed what to do rather than me. 😅 But I am sincerely glad about it, because I completely love my job and give myself to it with all my heart. I can say that my training somehow does not stop until now. All that experience accumulated in numerous projects is truly invaluable. Like all the time that I devote to art for 14 years. Start painting again to sell? Once I ran away from this and transferred all my work to a digital format. And then murals appeared, then a trip around Europe with drawing whales on the rocks, and then a return to La Paz and ... buying canvases and paints! Because no matter how I hide from this and justify inaction by the fact that I travel a lot, so I can’t paint, now there’s nowhere to go!
