It started with being inspired by my friend, Laura, @thequiltedacorn who baked some bread, then it became a small pressure vessel on my desk (starter was from newer engineer, and friend @ebethperkinson at work) and it became my first batch of sourdough waffles and my first loaf of sourdough bread. It was a little more dense then desirable, but it tasted so scrumptious, particularly with my favorite, peanut butter and honey! Yeah, I know, I don’t need another thing to do…but I can see the possibilities are endless! Another 2023 finish! This is my controlled scrappy Arkansas Croasroads quilt. The scraps are so fun to look and remember who gave them to me or which quilt/project they were leftover. All set to assemble into zipper bag! I have not posted much lately…been stitching…i have like 50 hexis to post…to say I am busy is an understatement. I have three kiddos, three schools and well….soccer, scouting, 4-H, dance and…well that about sums it up…everything that comes with raising them kiddos, and I don’t mean giving them a IPAD, or phone and let them go play video games, yes my kids are a major minority where their friends are shocked that such a child exists..and are in horror and curious how they can survive…You see my life is these kiddos and giving them my most precious gift, one that can never be replaced…my time. It’s the little details that matter - even if a pattern doesn’t include them! I always like to reinforced my back jeans pockets with a little triangle of stitching so they hold up a little better to the years of use. And then I saw the most perfect KATM label in my stash - I adore the contrast of red label with the sage green of my trousers! I love the unique waistband construction on these Named Aina trousers! From the front they look like a standard jean-like trouser, but in the back they've got a faced, half elastic waistband. Almost forgot to grab a photo of this little cow. This is going to be gifted to my daughter’s middle school orchestra/music 🎶 teacher. Once upon a time she said, “I teach mooolsic” to her students and ever since then she has accumulated dairy cow 🐄 everything from her students. It is not much but C thinks it will be a perfect addition to her collection. . She has been a great teacher for C…the first “orchestra” she has played in after years of playing in grade school. Orchestra has helped her refine her violin 🎻 skills, playing, reading and learning her music. Sicilian Patchwork with an infusion of Vintage! This amazing Sicilian Patchwork inspired fabric has everything, and I wanted to showcase every rose, pineapple and polka dot so I had a good search through my patterns for a blazer without too many lines and settled on Style pattern 2582 from 1979. Having only 1.5m of this heavily patterned beautiful fabric did pose many cutting questions but in the end I got the placements I wanted with only small compromises. The big compromise is leaving off the patch pockets, I couldn't pattern match because of the front darts and I don't have the extra fabric. I also omitted the back seam to save on fabric. Quilter in training here!!! I had this “kids quilt” from guild that needed quilted and after getting that other quilt off the machine, C was really keen on the idea of giving my machine a spin. So she helped get it prepped and on it went…I prepped some more while she practiced her violin 🎻 (so I had wonderful music) and she even got ready for bed when I asked so she could keep working on it. She didn’t want to do border so I quilted the pink border. I used KingTut Variegated thread on the top and not a single cotton thread break! Very impressive. . I’m going to have her finish the binding for practice…I wan going to take it to guild as is…and let someone else finish, but I found a cute stripe that will make a perfect binding in my stash. It is a crazy place and I love ❤️ it (those of you who have been here know exactly what I mean…no words can adequately describe this place). Kids are everywhere and all so happy and smiling. Speaking of errands, last time I was at Joann Fabrics, I noticed they had my ribbon holders back in stock (after at least a year).
