My all time favorite order was sent out last week. My customer’s teenage daughter passed away earlier this year. 😢 He had a ring made with a lock of her hair embedded into it. I was asked to add her signature to the inside of it. This was something I had never done before, but I was up doing it. The ring is made of black ceramic, so I purchased a black ceramic mug to test the sizing. I then used one of my own rings to check it again. Then it was time to engrave the real thing. This was a one shot deal. I couldn’t mess up. Do you see how perfectly it turned out?! I couldn’t be happier. Most of my jewelry fans know that I upcycle already broken or damaged china into sterling silver earrings, pendants and rings. My Olympia Farmers Market shoppers see a designated display tray on my table with a sign that says “Oahu Garbage Dump china”. The china shards that have been made into jewelry on this tray were all found by one of my Market customers on a beach at one of the island’s unofficial garbage dumps. After doing some items of jewelry for her and her daughter, she gifted me the rest of the shards of china to use in jewelry. To be making this china into one of a kind jewelry is the perfect way to repurpose and basically clear the beach of unnecessary sharp china shards as none of them had started being weathered by wave action. Here are two of the current available pendants (if you type in Oahu in the search bar on my website you’ll find them). Both of these pendants had a design on both sides, so in true Andi fashion, I sawed out a window with my trusty jewelers saw and made both of them reversible pendants, kind of a 2 for 1 deal. We made it through another week 🙌🏻🙌🏻 I have been getting to work on so many projects this week and this one definitely helped me get through my funk a little.. you know I love me a Denver Tote but I decided to take this gorgeous In the Garden floral from @monalunadesign @windhamfabrics and quilt it so it’s nice and fluffy and then add some longer leather straps to it! I LOVE how it turned out. Now it can be worn over the shoulder. 🩷 I am so glad you all voted for the pink drawstring cording because it’s just a perfect match.
