(Update: Sold, thank you!)Thank you for all the interest in this stunning Edwardian to Art Deco natural Emerald & OEC Diamond Ring I posted about! I went back and measured the stones and negotiated with the lender so can provide more details. Please swipe to see one hand shot I took in poor lighting and read details, below. If you have further questions please DM me. I have several people considering her, but for now she is still available. Set in platinum, the Old European Cut Diamonds measure approx 5.9 and 5.8 mm in diameter, and with their chunky old cuts I estimate their total carat eight at approx 1.67 ctw. Super fiery and clean, their clarity is estimated at VVS-VS clarity with no damages. They are fireballs and the perfect accents to the vivid Emerald. The Emerald measures approx 8 x 7 mm as near as I can tell while it’s set in it’s bezel. I’m estimating it at approx 1.64 carats. It, too, is in wonderful original condition with just a bit of wear at a facet junction seen under magnification. It has wonderful color and glow and some natural “jardin.” Delicate milgrain still edges it’s bezel. Quite substantial on the hand, the face measures approx 18.72 x 8.37 mm with a rise of approximately 5.07 mm off the finger. The platinum, including the gallery is in very good condition. I see signs of the ring being sized up under magnification, and done well. The finger size is a bit larger than I originally thought, at 8.5 on my mandrel. It could be safely sized down to a 6-6.5 and sizing beads could be added to bring it down a bit more. Twenty two sparkly & chunky all original old single cut diamonds are set around this approximately 2.2 mm wide band for a total estimated carat weight of .165 carats. Elegant engraving decorated both sides, showing some softening to the design from age. Fitting me around a size 6, it registers as a 5.75 on my mandrel and weighs 2.20 grams on my scale. SOLD VENDU MERCI ❤️ From the chateau heirloom boxes. I haven't touched this and it will clean as required. A rare 18th century French "A la Duchesse Anne" betrothal ring. Silver with faceted garnets with the two hearts highlighted in gold it dates from the late 1700s. Two small garnets at the sides are long gone but could easily be replaced. I can see a silver mark at the back. There is an exact example in the V&A with a description that reads.. Rings like this with hearts, were used as betrothal rings in France ... the details of the crown above, and the use of garnets, identify it as French. In Brittany, rings of this design were called à la duchesse Anne, after one supposedly worn by Anne of Brittany for her marriage to the Austrian archduke Maximilian in 1490. Anne was the last independent Duchess of Brittany, and the ring remained popular in the area until the nineteenth century. The same design was worn in Normandy. (Pendant is 10K with high karat finish, converted from a stick pin and I added the .14 carat bezel set diamond, chain is 14K, approx 18 inches long) The larger piece was converted from a brooch and is very lightweight but incredibly pretty. Testing between 14K and 18K with a 14K jump ring. It has a big look but only weighs 1.52 grams as it was made from thin gold sheet. This one dates from the late 1800s and was from the very high class jewellers Borgnis Gallanty who traded in Paris between 1838-1907. Two mysteries with this large box. Firstly what was hidden within to cause those marks on the velvet and silk. And secondly why is there a secret compartment on the base? (I was hoping something wonderful was still stashed away in there 😁) The outer leather and lock all strong and although marked the silk and velvet are all strong. Pforzheim around 1900, The depiction in painted enamel is the legendary figure Lohengrin. The Swan Knight is the title character of Richard Wagner’s popular opera Lohengrin. The pendant is in restored condition, the pendant eyelet has been reinforced, because it was broken off. The window enamel was repaired by soldering. The middle part of the enamel painting is in very good condition, else the pendant is in good condition, back with remaining gilding. Rare 18th century portrait miniature ring depicting the last Stuart monarch Queen Anne who reigned 1702-1714. The portrait is painted on vellum under crystal and bordered with foiled flat-cut garnets to a fine dished bezel and original bifurcated high carat shank. c.1770.
