Hey Y’all! I’m Danielle & I figured it’s been a while since I introduced myself. I live in North Carolina with my husband & our three wonderful (wild, messy, crazy, neurodivergent) boys. I’m a Michigan native & we spend a lot of time up there with my family throughout the year. I like to keep things funny & relatable. This channel started back in 2019 when I was in the depths of postpartum. My second had a really challenging first two years, and I struggled with that. It was so hard to watch him struggle to communicate and regulate emotions. He started early intervention with 3 different therapies/interventions and eventually was diagnosed autistic. Since then I made it my mission to research, educate myself and listen to the autistic community and my son to meet his needs. I also then realized my original diagnosis of ADHD, OCD and anxiety might be Autism. But that’s a conversation for a different day. Anyways I started this channel to meet moms & friends who could relate to my situation. I then started sharing about our journey with autism, but also with congenital heart defects as one of our children’s has a very rare mutation that manifests in ways the heath system still doesn’t know much about. Our family participates in a study with Duke university and our son I can happy say is currently living a typical first grader life. But that doesn’t mean the past surgeries don’t haunt me. That day was hard. Especially since his case was borderline on the type of surgery it would be and we wouldn’t know what happened until it was almost over. We also live knowing what is to come for him in the future and trying to let go and have faith can be difficult at times. So how did we end up here? Well I handle trauma with humor, travel and sometimes pretending it doesn’t exist… but I think if you ask most special needs families they will tell you they do the same at times. When @thesilentrescuer and I started fostering children, we literally had no idea what we were getting ourselves into! Not only did we grow our family and open the doors to loving others more than we knew we could but expanded our tribe. Now that we’ve met, I feel like I have another daughter, even if far away. My heart is full. My soul is (almost) complete. I only say almost because I def want more kids 😂.
