Remember you are only one person and if your loved one/caregivee needs constant care, it would be near impossible to do all the caregiving alone 24-hours a day, particularly if you also have to work a traditional 9-5 job (or maintain any semblance of a life for yourself). There will likely be an expense for that additional support, but there are some resources that may be available. Time, in my experience, moved in unexpected ways when caring for my loved one with dementia. Some days seemed incredibly long, not in a good way. And others felt like there was not enough time to address everything my loved one needed and basics like my getting a shower in or my eating a meal without shoving it down. But now with my loved one having passed after caring for her for about 2 years, I would welcome some more time with her...even on the hardest, longest/shortest, most complicated days...
