I’m Katy Palmer and Soulstar is mine. Allllll mine. Mwah haha. In truth, I’m a control freak which is why it’s mine, but also because 15 years ago I had a vision of creating an awesome band where I could give a brilliant overall experience and service from start to finish. That’s still very much my aim and focus all these years on. These days I have a brilliant husband and a gorgeous toddler in the mix which creates a busy and fun life outside of the somewhat crazy music life you see on here. Days off together are rare but we love the beach, a food market, a lunchtime glass of something cold, exploring holidays and we’re currently re landscaping our garden. We’ve completely renovated the house we live in and I’m very at home with a paintbrush or drill in my hand 🤣 We’ve just bought a greenhouse. I haven’t a clue what I’m doing. Our lovely neighbour called me ‘black fingered’ when we moved in after we killed nearly everything in the garden. Ok… everything. I sing with other bands and musicians, I’ve taught singing to children and adults with learning difficulties using Makaton, I love to perform but hate being the centre of attention unless I’ve got a mic in my hand. Hilarious, right? I’m similar off stage to on it. I’m sarcastic (way worse when I’m tired), I talk to everyone, I love a laugh and don’t take things too seriously. Banquet vs Rounds : We're talking tables - which style do you prefer? I must admit I am totally on the fence when it comes to this debate. I genuinely love both options! I think it all comes down to personal taste and since it's YOUR big day, you can choose whichever option you like! Both work and look great. I shared some of my own snaps of gorgeous Chloe and Olaf's wedding a while back, but I've now got the pro pics and they are wayyyyyy better! So, I'm happily sharing again. I love that Chloe and Olaf took a few minutes alone, before guests entered the room, to enjoy the finished "look". I'm a little surprised sometimes that more couples don't do this. You've spent months planning the styling and decor, hours setting it all up and it can often be a big part of your budget. I would definitely recommend taking 5 minutes, just the two of you, to take it all in. On that note, I have a special request for guests. If you're heading to a wedding soon, please don't rush to find your seat and dump your jackets, bags and hats! The couple, the photographer and the wedding coordinator will all love you if you just hold back and wait a while - think of the pics! 😙 Little Tip : When thinking about your table decor, "inbetweeners" are a no-no, you either need to go high or keep it low, otherwise you won't see guests at the other side of the table, or the rest of the room. Also, think about how much space you need. Tables can quickly fill up with plates, serving dishes, sharing platters, glassware, wine bottles etc. You won't have quite as much space for large decor items on banquet style tables as you would on rounds but there are plenty of suitable options still. Little jars/vases of flowers work well dotted along the length of the tables and look really pretty.
