För första gången i Norden visas Elias Crespins verk ”Chronomorphosis” Så bra med en museiguide som får en att se det man kanske missar på egen hand. Mobilerna som rör sig med hjälp av komplicerade dataprogram är fascinerande, man hamnar lite i trance av att följa rörelserna. Låter sig inte göras på bild, måste ges tid och ses i verkligheten. (Bild 1-3) Våningen under ägnas åt ”Åtta grader-samtida konst om skogen”. Visar flera verk av olika konstnärer, reflektioner över vad en skog egentligen är ur olika aspekter. Tradition-framtid, skogsbruk, biologisk mångfald, en helig plats. Också den mycket intressant. We are thrilled to congratulate Elias Crespin on the recent acquisition of his sculpture Grand HexaNet by The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, where it will become part of the museum’s permanent collection. The work, previously seen hanging at the Grand Palais in Paris in 2018, has been on view in the ‘Bloch Lobby’ of the Kansas institution since March 28. “My largest sculpture so far, Grand HexaNet materializes complex mathematical figures, exploring the interaction between flatness and volume, order and chaos, continuity and rupture. The frail, bright red elements of the moving sculpture then draw a delicate ballet in the air and invite the viewer to stop and contemplate its dance, reconfiguring its perception of the exhibition space.” –Elias Crespin “This highly nuanced choreographic sculpture constantly shifts and changes, bringing into question the concepts of space, time, movement, and form. Galerie d’art : Turbulences 🚇 Projet pour l’école, une galerie d’art reprenant le nom de l’ancienne galerie physique Denise rené, fermée depuis peu à Paris, à installer rue du mirail à Bordeaux, dans un espace en longueur, assez étroit. Le projet prend sa source dans le mouvement, la vitesse, travaille la perception et expose de l’art cinétique. Dès l’entrée, les visiteurs sont immergés dans l’expérience en empruntant un passage qui simule un moyen de transport en mouvement, les confrontant à des turbulences visuelles et sensorielles. Chaque pas devient délibéré, chaque mouvement réfléchi alors qu’ils naviguent à travers cet espace, lui aussi cinétique. À mesure que les visiteurs progressent et sortent du « métro », ils découvrent un espace baigné de lumière, sinueux qui continue à perturber leur centre de gravité. Les œuvres exposées peuvent être suspendues, mobiles, manipulables, des œuvres qui n’existent que par notre regard et nos mouvements, invitant les visiteurs à interagir et à créer leur propre expérience artistique. | FOCUS ŒUVRE | Cette sculpture d'Elias Crespin est composée de 32 triangles équilatéraux en plexiglas fluorescent vert. Alignés, les éléments forment un long prisme allongé, qui oscille entre une forme organisée et organique serpentant dans l’air et des moments où, éclatés, les triangles adoptent des comportements individuels ne semblant suivre aucune règle commune. Lentement, l'œuvre passe de l’ordre et de l’harmonie au dérèglement et au chaos. Cette œuvre fait partie d’une série initiée en 2013, permettant des jeux de brillance et de transparence. 🇻🇪 Cuando decidí a ser artista, la principal referencia que encontré de arte con movimiento y técnicas motorizadas fue Julio Le Parc @julio_le_parc_official. Ese ejemplo completó mi confianza en el uso de sistemas electro mecánicos como base constructiva de obras de arte. Además me gusta mucho que en las obras motorizadas de Le Parc, el mecanismo está fuera del alcance de la vista, mostrando el fenómeno sensorial producido, y encapsulando, como en los organismos vivos, la fisiología de la obra. El viernes pasado tuve el honor de que Julio Le Parc y su hijo Yamil Le Parc @yamilleparc aceptaran mi invitación al estudio para mostrarles más de cerca algunas de mis obras electrocinéticas, conversar y bromear un poco. También visitamos juntos el espacio de mi vecino y gran artista Miguel Chevalier @miguel_chevalier . Gracias Julio y Yamil por esta tan especial visita y por su ejemplo en el camino del arte. 🇫🇷 Quand j'ai décidé d'être artiste, la principale référence que j'ai trouvée pour l'art avec le mouvement et les techniques motorisées était Julio Le Parc @julio_le_parc_official. Cet exemple a complété ma confiance dans l'utilisation de systèmes électromécaniques comme base constructive des oeuvres d’art. J'aime aussi beaucoup le fait que dans les œuvres motorisées de Le Parc, le mécanisme soit à caché, montrant le phénomène sensoriel produit, et encapsulant, comme dans les organismes vivants, la physiologie du travail. Vendredi dernier, j'ai eu l'honneur que Julio Le Parc et son fils Yamil Le Parc @yamilleparc aient accepté mon invitation au studio pour regarder de plus près certaines de mes œuvres électrocinétiques, discuter et plaisanter un peu. Nous avons également visité ensemble l'espace de mon voisin et grand artiste Miguel Chevalier @miguel_chevalier. Elias Crespin (Venezuela, 1965) started working on his first work in 2002. His work fuses his two universes of belonging, art and computer science: starting from his research in programming, he applies it to the plastic arts to create geometric sculptures in movement. Crespin seeks to create works that give visible form to the laws of the universe, suggesting a cosmic world governed by mathematical laws. His electrokinetic sculptures, subject to the laws of gravity and equilibrium, move from order to chaos, evoking the beauty and complexity of the cosmos. An honour to meet you @eliascrespin last week and to encounter your incredible work "L'Onde du Midi" in the Louvre. For the Pyramid’s 30th anniversary, the Louvre Museum invited contemporary Venezuelan artist Elias Crespin to design a new permanent decor for the palace, following in the footsteps of Anselm Kiefer (2007), François Morellet (2010) and Cy Twombly (2010). L'Onde du Midi is made up of 128 metal tubes, suspended from wires driven by motors, which draw a subtle choreography, a beautiful silent ballet✨ The artistic universe of Elias Crespin resides firmly between the world of science and art, with his works featuring in prestigious collections, including the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, the Museo del Barrio in New York and the MALBA in Buenos Aires. He is represented by the Denise René gallery. Cosmologies is Elias Crespin’s first solo show at Baró Mallorca, coinciding with the opening of Art Palma Brunch on 25 March 2023. He seeks to create sculptures that give visible form to the laws of the universe, suggesting a cosmic world governed by mathematical laws. His electrokinetic sculptures, subject to the laws of gravity and equilibrium, move from order to chaos, evoking the beauty and complexity of the universe. Cosmologies, his first solo show at Baró in Palma de Mallorca, reflects his fascination with the organisation and complexity of the universe.
