The final major deliverable of my signature branding package is a style guide. I LOVE showing it to clients for the first time. It’s the moment they get to see the result of all the work we’ve done, the discussions we’ve had and the bits and piece we’ve been pulling together. It’s always a really exciting part of the branding process! But if you haven’t seen a style guide before, you may be wondering what it is exactly, and why you’d want one in your business. So, allow me to explain! You can think of a style guide as a visual reference for your branding. A good style guide will explain how to apply your branding with consistency to the many touchpoints in your business. Those touchpoints could include your website, social media posts, marketing material, client documents, and so on. Rather than starting from scratch every time you need to design something new, you have a style guide that shows you exactly which typefaces and colors to use, along with all the other specifics of your unique branding. Instead of being stuck in a perpetual “does this even look good” state of mind, you can confidently: • Select the right heading, subheading and body text fonts to use • Apply your brand colors • Choose stock images that align with your brand style • Add patterns, lines, or other marks that are part of your branding to layouts • You can save so much time and effort, AND you can be sure that the result is consistent to every other piece of branding in your business. (That’s super important for building familiarity with your audience!) What I want is for you to feel in control of your own branding. We label each folder and everything we experience is logged into one or more folders that suit best. 🧠 The more we see something, the bigger its share in the folder. That is the reason that you sometimes think of a brand when seeing a certain symbol or colour. Even if in that moment it has nothing to do with that specific brand. 👃The same goes for scent. Last Saturday we stayed at a hotel in Leuven (BE). When entering the lobby, the scent reminded me of a spa centre near where I live and haven't been in about 20 (!) years. WOW! Thanks brain.
