Honestly I've been in a painting burn out for the past few weeks. And for the first time I just kept going. With bad painting after bad painting, until I completed this one. Which I love. Instagram is good at making artists look like they have an effortless painting experience and I will be the first one to admit that it's quite the opposite. I’ve been researching a little more on the rococo era of the Georgian period. Mainly because I’m just entranced by it. Rococo is a form that showcases the skill and talent of its craftsmen like no other, as it relied heavily on the delicacy of its decoration and detail. With continental silversmiths, engravers and furniture makers inspiring the British to up their game… artists also joined forces to improve their skills. The Royal Academy of Arts, was founded in 1768 on the back of this movement. Whilst Rococo may be predominantly associated with French taste, British painters of the day, such as Gainsborough and Reynolds, were particularly adept at capturing the quintessential feel of the style. In 1759 Gainsborough moved to fashionable Bath, where he established a very successful portrait-painting practice. Lady in Blue is an oil-on-canvas portrait of a woman, painted in the late 1770s or early 1780s by Thomas Gainsborough. Some art historians have identified its subject as the Duchess of Beaufort, daughter of Edward Boscawen. This painting shows an exquisite lightness of touch, sensuous lines and a delightful playfulness, all key characteristics of rococo. I’d love to see this painting in person, isn’t she just enthralling?… but she has been in the collection at the Hermitage Museum, Saint Petersburg since 1916. BonJoir les amibes, je vous présente mon dernier dessin au fusain. Il s'agit d'un portrait de mon amie Eléonore dans un bain. J'ai utilisé une photo magnifique où l'émotion du regard, mêlant la peur et la douceur, représentait pour moi un défi. C'était un véritable cri à l'aide qui m'a profondément touché, d'autant plus que cette femme est d'une beauté exceptionnelle. Lorsque je parle de beauté, je ne parle pas seulement de la douceur de son visage, mais aussi de celle de son cœur. Ce dessin la présente dans toute sa fragilité, sa nudité, dans ce bain où elle semble pouvoir se noyer, adoptant une posture fœtale et ce regard qui est comme un cri éteint.
