DESIGN FOCUS Boubacar Toure Sambou Seabed collection. I noticed myself constantly referring to the theme of fluidity when creating and developing the collection, which juxtaposed with the ocean and bodies of water in general. Playing was another reason for such a choice, with the idea of creating soft forms from hard surfaces. Here we are in @Findamaker week once again and what a lovely way to finish off another year of making! Thank you to all the new followers this year, todays prompt is ‘what is my story’ so here goes. I am a 3d designer maker and design consultant based in Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire. I started this small business in March 2021 having previously worked as a designer and design manager in the ceramics industry, for Wedgwood and Royal Doulton. After refreshing my 3D cad skills during the lockdown I bought a 3D printer to play with and satisfy my shape design yearnings. I print in PLA materials which are derived from 100% renewable resources and will commercially compost at the end of their days. My work explores form, texture, tactility and colour! Ceramics is my true passion and I have started to develop a ceramic collection to compliment my 3d printed designs, working with my husband @dominicmarshalldesign I also teach two days a week at Staffordshire Uni on the Product, Furniture and Ceramics BA @pfcstaffsuni and love model and mould making in the plaster workshop and sharing my knowledge with our latest cohort of students. I am so grateful to have been included by Sarah James in the Find a maker family when it launched in February 2021, a truly wonderful group of makers across multiple materials, with so much experience of running small creative businesses, I have learned so much from them and am thankful for their generosity. The combination of the two words is Zambogoy. Zambogoy is a hammock. However, the shape looks very different from other hammocks on the market. The significance of this product is that the shape is inspired by a swimming blue whales. Because Zamboanga and The Philippines is around the ocean. The very first impression comes to my mind is blue whales. They are dominating the ocean since 50 million years ago. The movement of swimming can be shown on the tail part, which is raised upward, may at any time swing downward with great power. The yakan pattern is also perfectly applied on Zambogoy hammock. This is a design that reflects the wisdom of the people of Zamboanga.
