Youโve never seen me sew anything for Lindsey before. This is her first appearance here. Lindsey was given to me by a friend and I wasnโt sure if I would keep her. She has stayed stuffed at the back of the doll cupboard waiting for me to decide. Then, I got inspired! I took the pattern for my Scalloped Serenade pattern and gave it a little 50s twist by adding a tulle skirt peeking out from under the top skirt and felt Lindsey, with her short curly hair, would fit the vision. I made this little play romper at the end of last summer and thought Iโd wait until the beginning of this summer to list it. When I got up this morning, it looked like anything but summer type weather with the rain and dark skies we were having. But as the day has gone on, the clouds have cleared, the sun is out and the skies are getting bluer. The animals up here are enjoying it too. While Iโve been sewing, there have been about a dozen turkeys strolling past my window and a few deer across the street eating the leaves off the trees and laying in the wet wild grass. No matter how many times I see these animals, I still like to stop what Iโm doing and just watch them. The bag is a modified version of the Beach Bag from the @_doll_it_up_ My Doll My Style book. Everything was made from stash except the beach towel fabric. I finished the outfit off with a knitted cover-up, slides made from the same leather scraps I used for bag straps and a pink pair of sunglasses. The amazing overlay is made in sparkling blue crepe tulle. The train of the overlay extends a little longer than the gown underneath. Me Made May Day 18! Here I am in what is becoming my โMommy ventures out of doorsโ uniform, my @helens__closet Blackbird Cardigan and @sewliberated Arenite Pants. Itโs โHometown Daysโ weekend in San Carlos, and after eating some yummy fried chicken from the food truck, I got to sit in the softball field, listen to a 90s cover band on the stage, and work on this embroidery project thatโs been weeks in the making: Iโm reproducing a 1922 Lanvin robe de style named โJoilboisโ at 1/3 doll scale in muted blue silk taffeta. ๐๐ผ The pic of my mini-me doll Holly is modeling a tester gown (modified from @rkdollcoutureโs 18-inch Robe de Style pattern) in brighter blue silk, where I was able to hone my technique and determine that single strand embroidery would look best at this scale. As human-scale projects have taken over my priority list the last few months, Iโve been spending less and less time on dolly clothes, but this project always comes with me whenever Iโm on longer car trips or places and lovely days like this where hours of sitting is on the agenda.
