1920s – Early 30s GEC BSS 130 Brass Bladed Fan Lamp (DIMMABLE)

Have a bespoke custom lamp, meticulously crafted from antique and vintage relics, or choose from our array of ready-made masterpieces. Deepen the story of your décor. Message me for more details. Your journey into vintage elegance begins here!

This piece began with design mock-ups, that eventually culminated in a design that exceeded even my own expectations.

The fan was thoroughly disassembled and cleaned, the redundant electrics and motor were stripped off. The body of the fan underwent a meticulous restoration process, using a buffing wheel and cutting compound, bringing back the original glossy sheen of the black paint.

Unlike previous fan conversions where I'd replace the blades with a 3 or 4-way globe holder, this design was all about preserving the original blades. The tarnished blades, barely recognizable as brass, were revived using a special homemade brass cleaner, fondly coined 'Jungle Juice'. This miracle concoction outperformed any other metal polish I'd used before, and trust me, I've tried at least 30 of them. The blades and cage were then gently polished to create a satin finish, complementing the patina of the body.

The final hurdle was the integration of the fan blades with a matching globe holder. While it seemed straightforward at first, given my experience with fan conversions, it turned out to be a far more intricate task. But as you can see, the result was successful.

The grand finale was the application of metal wax to the brass components and automotive wax to the painted body, followed by the fitting of 4 x T100 filament globes.

(Dimmable), includes mounted dimmer switch and 4 x T100 Filament globes.
