Gum recession happens when the gum tissue around your teeth wears away or pulls back. This exposes more of the tooth or its root.
It creates “pockets” or gaps between the teeth and gums, where harmful bacteria can gather. If you don’t treat it, this can seriously harm the tissue and bone that hold your teeth in place, and you might even lose some teeth.
