Flying to Formosa: A Photo Journey<br /><br />Part 3: 九份<br /><br />What used to be an old mining town has now become one of the most bustling tourist destinations in Taiwan. The streets are crowded with onlookers, various shops, and lucky red lanterns. Everyone comes seeking a little piece of history buried beneath the ancient cobblestone.<br /><br />1st Picture:<br />Customers relax in a small dining alcove, enjoying the chewy taro and sweet potato balls from the famous 賴阿婆 shop. This store has been operating for four generations and has never ceased to be a favorite snack destination in 九份.<br /><br />2nd Picture:<br />An artisan carefully paints the intricate designs on a ceramic ocarina. Upon completing his work, the artisan treated us to a marvelous mini concert using the ocarina he had just finished painting!<br /><br />3rd Picture:<br />The owner of a nougat shop waits upon customers in her store. This shop sells deliciously chewy nougat in a wide variety of flavors.<br /><br />4th Picture:<br />A red lantern with the town's name illuminates the tea shop behind it while a tourist gazes off into the distance towards the ocean.<br /><br />5th-7th Pictures:<br />Lucky red lanterns are strung throughout the town, lining the edges of busy streets, hanging along the fringes of rooftops, and stretching across the open space of small courtyards.<br /><br />8th Picture:<br />Climbing the stairs to the top of the town was truly worth it!
