I've always been shit at this game...
Looking back, I can see how many times I held back because the other person or party wasn't meeting me half-way.
Or rather....
I assumed they weren't going to reciprocate.
But history has shown that we often receive far more back when we give abundantly.
Maybe not right there in the moment...
Or a week later....
Or months or even years later....
But it comes back.
And whilst we might meet some bad eggs that don't ever appreciate what we graciously offer or sacrifice, I want you to realize in some ways we gain immediately...
We gain development in character, spirit and heart.
Sure, you can't "spend" these things but the more you have of spirit and heart will only naturally increase the quality, not just quantity of your giving.
And the majority of those recipients, whether you want them or not, will want to return the favor.
You see this in forgiveness, sacrifice, generosity in personal and work relationships.
You see this in businesses - those most successful give away so much "free value" without counting their returns.
Those who receive what they know they don't deserve or can't afford understand the value of your sacrificial choices.
It might not always be fair but in the long-game, a giving, sacrificial heart will always win.
