Original, private pressing from Naples. Cool asf 7” disco sleaze housed in strange barbed wire fuzzy artwork picture sleeve. Item was a new discovery for us last year and this is the last copy from our mini deadstock stash. Actually, a superior alternative version of “Follia” the track previously comped on Napoli Segreta Vol. 1 by the DJ collective and people behind Italian group, Nu Genea. Trashy Neapolitan pop funk with electronics, infectious disco beat, wah wah and weird (yet effective) manic laughing / screams. The production packs a punch. The music and vocal delivery is the same as the comped tune but on this 45 issue, the vocal mix is cleaner and more defined. A must for those riding the wave of that Neapolitan disco renaissance. Item was untouched from old unplayed deadstock prior to our video recordings. Some faint old pressing blemishes and a few faint hairlines but virgin vinyl. One tiny white abrasion mark causes a couple of pops to end part of intro. Natural background noises but to be expected on such a pressing. The soft card sleeve is also nice. Pretty sharp with one mini hole shaped tear to back sleeve above label info top right and a few age spots to middle area. A dream scenario for an item from Naples. Good luck finding this in the wild these days. A raw, rough and ready example of the Mediterranean discotheque sound. “Follia” even starts with primitive hip hop tempo beat, plus giallo thriller style scat on here too.
