Laura Penney is a bilingual songwriter who lives in Paradise, Newfoundland and Labrador. Her music is made for life's quieter moments. She writes songs that contrast the monotony of suburban city life with the emotions of the enveloping woods, waters, and fog that surround it. Her song "Black-capped Chickadee" was a semi-finalist in the 2023 International Songwriting Competition.
