Petite France (or La Petite France or Französel or Quartier des Tanneurs or Tanner's Quarter) is a beautiful highlight of Strasbourg town in France. Petite France name came from locating Hospice of the Incurable hospital for those with "French disease" at this location in 1687. Medieval houses in this location were formerly housing fishermen, tanners and millers, workers, the poor and washhouses. On the water edge, The Tanners’ House (Maison des Tanneurs) was built in 1572 as a former headquarters of the city’s Tanners Guild and now houses a restaurant.
