Who knew that going to the San Francisco Planning, Building and Public Works Departments could be so artistic? Located at 49 S Van Ness. There is an art installation by @sanazmazinani. It is called the Forum Rolling Reflections. I was there because one of my clients needed floor plans for her house so that she can start with her architect on her ground floor remodel.
This amazing installation has 37 sculptural forms that really transforms the space between the buildings. If you are wondering why does downtown San Francisco have so many art projects. It is all due to the 1% Art Program. This requires all projects involving new building, or the addition of 25,000 square feet or more in the Downtown and nearby neighborhoods, provide public art equal to at least 1% of the total construction cost.
Since the permit indicated a construction cost of $200 million, the budget dedicated for the art program was $2,206,968 which equals approximately 1.1% of the total construction cost.
