Sometimes I wish that everyone in the world could understand Korean, at least some words and nuances. Because there‘s a word in Korean called ”낭만“ (”nangman“), and I want to describe this city as ”낭만.“ The dictionary simply translates ”낭만“ as ”romance“ or ”romanticism,“ but it’s quite different from those. ”낭만“ is something that seeps into the object, very naturally, making it approachable. It‘s a feeling of being comfortable, yet also a little excited and thrilled. That’s what ”낭만“ is. At this point, nearly a year into living in this city, I suddenly realized that this city is truly ”낭만적“ (”nangmanjeok“). Not that I‘ve fallen in love, but perhaps it’s something I could love in the future.
