ALMOST!
Taking me a wee bit longer.
Daily - I am aware, observing and reminiscing … wondering how the heck I did this with four kids. Littles.
I’m not sure lol, but it’s DEFINITELY taking longer than it ever has to finish this piece.
And maybe - just maybe - I’m way more relaxed now and not in such a hurry to perform. 🤔 lol
That being said! It’s getting done and it’s been mostly therapeutic and absolutely enjoyable to put my headphones, listen to various podcasts and music … strip, sand and paint … layer upon layer, sand some more, wash over with white and grey paints
Alas ….. people think you can just slap a coat of paint on any old surface.
Not so. It truly is a lot of work and it does take some finesse, know how and perhaps a dash of talent!
The other thing that is often overlooked is the YEARS of mistakes, experimenting and fortunate accidents ( as one of my earlier mentors used to say ) to learn the art of navigating different finishes and allowing these pieces to speak to you.
Kind of like life, we begin with a dream, a vision of how we want it to look like - however - sometimes we come across curve balls, stains, burn marks and gouges. They can’t all be covered up nicely … ergo oft times we can just let them be as they are scars and all!
Perfectly imperfect.
Years of stories to tell!
Albeit TOTALLY efficient and functional!
