An Axiom (plural Axiomata or Axioms) is a statement taken to be true or self evident, which acts as the starting point for further reasoning.
Each of us is reliant upon certain Axiomata as the foundation of our entire world-view. If you build a house on a good, strong foundation, it will stand for centuries. If you don’t take care to ensure the strength of the foundation, the house will surely collapse.
In Matthew 7:24 Jesus gives the parable of the House on the Rock:
“…whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.”
Jesus is indicating that what he has told his disciples is pure, true Axiomata, and that if they build their world-view upon them, and really live by them, they will never fail. These Axiomata are the very same as those of the Rosicrucian Fraternity as mentioned in the Fama Fraternitatis.
Key 16 of Tarot, The Tower, illustrates the result of building a world-view upon a foundation of bad Axiomata. The problem becomes compounded when additional layers of abstraction are built upon the Axioms, the weight of which stress it even further.
Take care to build your Tower upon the true Axiomata.
