Oliver was orphaned at birth and thrown into a life of neglect, starvation, and abuse. He tried to escape that life only to be forced against his will into a group of criminals. All his life, he was surrounded mostly by cruel and evil people that didn’t care about what happened to him, used him for personal gain, or wanted to hurt him. He really had a very tragic life and yet Oliver remained a sweet, kind-hearted boy.
I thought I knew the story of Oliver Twist, but it turned out there was a lot I didn’t know. It was darker than I expected and much more adventurous and dramatic than I thought! I really liked it!
