Today's theme for #absolutemayhem2024 is THE SPACE ERA. When I think of the Space Age, I imagine the society that we've seen in Star Trek - people of all races and species coming together for the betterment of the universe.
But in reality, we're a loooong ways away from that future. Twelve men in all of history have landed on the moon. No women, and nobody non-white.
That changes in 2026. NASA will be launching its Artemis III mission, which will have us exploring the South pole of the moon for the very first time, and in an absolutely historic move, the two astronauts who will be stepping onto the surface will be a woman and a person of color. How exciting is that?!?
We're a long ways away from light speed spaceships and alien peace treaties, but to me, having this touch of diversity is a major step in achieving that utopian future we all want. I can't wait to see the beginnings of it. 🚀🌕👩🏻🚀👨🏿🚀
