I couldn't help but pick up this ultra-cool ellipse-shaped #KingSeiko 5625-6000 this week, the second KS in my #Seikocollection. King #Seiko, a separate brand from the 1960s and 70s, that was recently reintroduced as a near-luxury model within the modern-day Seiko range, was (and still is) made to a much higher standard than regular Seiko models, especially #vintageSeikos. In fact, it was created as an internal competitor to #GrandSeiko. Seiko pitted two of its factories ( #DainiSeikosha that built the King Seiko line, and #SuwaSeikosha, responsible for higher-end Grand Seiko models) against each other in a quest to beat #Swisswatchbrands at their own game, and won awards for accuracy in Swiss competitions with both brands. Truly, the quality of this #vintageKingSeiko is much higher than most others I've experienced from this era, including many #Rolex and #Omegawatch models. The movement is also at another level, beating at 36,000 vph and keeping extremely accurate time. It came on a beautiful #Hirschleatherstrap, although I would have preferred the original mesh bracelet. I suppose I'm now on the lookout for that! The obsession never ends haha 🤦
