Lots of people who know lots about weirdo music know that Leslie Conway "Lester" Bangs was once the best and funniest and most annoying rock critic in the USA. They may not know he spent a lost season in the punk clubs of Austin and Houston. He palled around with ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons, recorded an interesting album with Austin band the Delinquents (entitled Jook Savages on the Brazos) and almost got booed offstage at the Armadillo for wearing the pink Izod frat-boy special he's sporting in this picture. He returned to NYC, where he died just sixteen months later. Come back, Lester--all is forgiven!!
