Don’t forget to check!
We’ve been getting several cases pertaining to kangaroos over the recent weeks, and it’s always a good reminder to not forget to check their pouch. Many kangaroos are fatally injured on our roads daily, and can often have some precious cargo residing in the pouch. This eastern grey kangaroo Joey (Macropus giganteus), Billy, was found in their mother’s pouch after she was hit by a vehicle. Luckily, Billy had some caring individuals find and report him for some help! Billy has since been in rehabilitation, and released back to the wild once independent! Always check any deceased marsupials pouch, and if unsure, feel free to contact a wildlife organisation, or veterinarian, and they can assist you through the process.
