On November 28th the State Building Code Council voted to adopt the proposed amendments to the energy codes for new residential and commercial buildings. The new codes will go into effect March 15th of 2024.
This follows months of reworking the energy code to allow the installation of new gas equipment, while maintaining the strict emissions standards. This makes the 2021 Washington State Energy Code one of the most climate friendly energy codes in the nation.
