Usually they do imitate us by pretending to talk on the phone,
I have my online & physical classes at my home, so sometimes they are trying to teach and copying me as a teacher..
So our child is learning how things work and what to do with them just by observing us. We must be careful, however, because kids at this age are also incredibly good at imitating behaviors you don't want them to, such as cussing or throwing things when you're angry.
Yelling on them out of frustration (I do and I'm guilty if it).
